Job Family Summary

The Knowledge Management job family is a part of the Claims Learning and Development team and is responsible for the design, development and management of the Claims organization knowledge management strategy. The knowledge management strategy will effectively help Claims employees best serve customers and achieve quality execution of the business.

Job Description

This leadership role is responsible for leading the delivery and governance of the Claims organization knowledge management strategy including but not limited to the development and execution of content strategies, guiding principles, reporting metrics and change management. This job is also responsible for leading the overall knowledge management team in implementing, building and maintaining an organization-wide knowledge management practice.

Key Responsibilities

Knowledge Management

  • Responsible for establishing vision and executing Knowledge Management strategy to impact business results
  • Develops and provides recommendations on approaches to design, execute and monitor knowledge management strategies in alignment with Claims priorities and goals.
  • Engages with Claims leaders, Claims SMEs (content owners) and other stakeholders to develop strategies and approaches to ensure that efforts are developed holistically, with an eye towards the future and ensuring a win in the eyes of customers as well as embedding knowledge management into existing processes and strategies
  • Develops, articulates and communicates guiding principles and frameworks to be used in alignment with Claims overall goals
  • Acts as a consultant with business areas, both within Claims and Enterprise AORs, to educate and coach on knowledge management strategies and execution
  • Leads and champions the change management process to ensure successful adoption of knowledge management practice
  • Applies best practice principles of content management to define architecture elements, taxonomies, and guidelines to provide consistent structure and user experience
  • Monitors the effectiveness, maintenance, and use of tools and systems as they apply to curation and implements improvements as identified or directed
  • Responsible for the overall standards, best practices, and collaboration involved in a knowledge management solution including the knowledge warehousing process- facilitating storage, cataloging and retrieval of knowledge assets
  • Works with business leaders and stakeholders to identify and address areas of opportunity and gaps in knowledge flow, and gather user needs and insights to optimize the user experience and adoption of knowledge management strategy
  • Establishes and enforces effective governance and change management to drive consistency across enterprise knowledge strategy and increase utilization of knowledge platform
  • Acts as lead in the integration and collaboration with Claims Learning and Development partners to ensure seamless integration of the knowledge management strategy into Claims Learning and Development strategies/approaches

Collaboration/Communication
Partners with the Claims communication team on the implementation of the knowledge management communication strategy in addition to promoting the effective use of the knowledge management system
Collaborates with other knowledge management teams internally and externally to keep abreast of trends, technology and innovation within the knowledge management space

Leadership/Environment
Recruits, trains and leads a team of knowledge management content publishers responsible for executing the development, publishing, and presentation of claims related knowledge content designed to achieve organizational objectives
Promotes, fosters and influences actions, careers, environment of employees
Interprets vision for a team and assist in enrolling others in that vision
Maintains an environment of highly engaged employees
Manages multiple work assignments with limited guidance provided
Proactively uses their expertise to train others
Manages staff and effectively uses performance management to improve and/or reward employee performance
Effectively coaches and provides development/career guidance for direct reports
Administers company Human Resources policies

Reporting

  • Develops and analyzes knowledge management established metrics and reports trends to leadership
  • Defines key measures of success and provide regular updates including the impact of changes to knowledge management best practices, strategies and approaches
  • Monitors and runs reports regularly to determine knowledge management page usage/traffic and outdated content that needs updating
  • Develops and refines knowledge management dashboard, based on business process metrics and qualitative input that tells a compelling story

Vendor Relations

  • Acts as the primary point of content in engagement with vendors to support Knowledge Management
  • Partners with vendors in the development of a strategic approach and tactics to sustain a viable knowledge management environment

Job Qualifications

Bachelors degree or related experience required
Previous experience working on enterprise-wide knowledge management including strategy, systems, processes and procedures
Leadership experience in developing and leading a team to achieve business objectives
Ability to interact effectively, and coach others on interacting effectively, with internal or external customers and act with empathy
Experience successfully leading/facilitating/or participating in large scale organizational change efforts or complex projects involving ambiguity with input into the strategic planning experience
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Suite of products
Strong organizational and strategic planning skills
Project management experience preferred
Proven track record of delivery on time and within budget
Applies advanced conflict management and problem resolution skills in managing internal and external customer relationships
Applies advanced problem-solving skills to continuously improve business outcomes
Provides advanced individual decision making within authority limits

Prior Knowledge Management experience not required, but preferred
