Allstate Technology & Strategic Ventures (ATSV) team is embarking on a journey to move Application computing to leverage various Cloud provider services. As a result, our Cloud Engineering, Design & Security Team are setting up a Cloud Data Center.

CEDS is responsible for establishing the design & reference architecture for workloads on Private & Public Cloud. This includes incubating new application patterns, evolving existing, and proving their functionality and ability to scale through proof of concepts.

As an Azure Product Manager, you will contribute by helping prioritize the backlog, provide input into essential services priority based on feedback from the customer which will all feed into Azure cloud roadmap and strategy that you will own and manage.

Allstate is looking for a Cloud Product Manager to drive an Agile Cloud Engineering team focused on developing products for Allstates both internal and external customers. Our engineers code all day, every day, on a cloud platform, in a pairing environment, unhindered by meetings and emails.

With your Product Mindset you will be the key focal point of your product bringing customers needs back to the team to build out your products strategy and implement it.

You will be creating Epics and Stories based on customer feedback and problem statements and will know the definition of done.

You will then bring these Epics back to the team where you and the Product Owner will work together towards breaking them out into manageable tasks and prioritize them for implementation and delivery.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but aren't limited to):

  • Establish, constantly improve, and execute product development and delivery (with quality, stability, and financial management) while maintaining a highly engaged, energized, and efficient team of 7-10 engineers, designers, and analysts.
  • Assist in driving culture change becoming a customer-centric delivery team (business and technology; 24/7 available website).
  • Drive and maintain a product roadmap; manage and prioritize Technical Debt; strike a balance between delivering features and technical health.
  • Manage the relationship with business/product stakeholders; collaborate closely with the Product Owner to understand the voice of the customer.
  • Promote a one team (business and technology) mentality while distributed across multiple physical locations.
  • Align and deliver upon the defined product value (KPIs).

Job Qualifications

Ideal person:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork, the ability to work with both local and remote team members.
  • Demonstrate an ability to bridge technology knowledge gaps between IT staff and corporate staff such as Legal, Compliance and Audit organizations.
  • Show how you are passionate about software engineering.
  • Demonstrate measuring success by delivering working software and end user satisfaction.
  • Show an understanding of the culture changes needed when changing focus from technical platforms to customer needs.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of cloud services, deployment models, and distributed systems.
  • Essential Criteria
  • 5+ years experience in fast-paced organization performing as a Product Manager/Product Owner/Engineering Manager, with software development background
  • Understanding of an Azure and/or AWS Cloud Data Center
  • A high-energy, expert communicator to both technical and non-technical team members, brimming with positive, proactive energy and dynamic leadership skills with ability to motivate teams
  • Ability to act as a data-driven decision maker who blends sound business judgment with strong analytical thinking

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of an AWS and/or Azure Cloud Data Centre
  • Previous infrastructure and/or network experience
  • Experience bringing customer problem statements back to the Cloud Engineering team for Epic and Story creation
  • AWS and/or Azure Certifications
  • Experience managing backlog and building reports and views using Jira or with a similar agile management tool

Travel Requirements

  • 1 2 trips to Northbrook, IL anticipated annually
