About the job:

We are seeking an experienced, motivated Software Engineer to participate in API development, automation, integration, and operational support within an Agile squad on the Hosting Services Security Operations Cloud Security and Performance Engineering Support team. The team is responsible for Liberty Mutual s Perimeter Security including; Certificate Management, Database Security, Vulnerability Management, and Web Application Security. You will be engaged in challenging and innovative projects that impact Liberty Mutual and optimize our security posture.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, communication and collaboration skills.

  • General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes.

  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.

  • Experience with layered system architectures and layered solutions; understanding of shared software concepts.

  • Ability to work in an agile team environment where you lead and share responsibilities

  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and implement strategies to improve and optimize Liberty Mutual s security posture

  • Ability to work with customers throughout the organization to support securing web applications

  • Required 24x7 on-call participation per on-call rotation

Highly competitive candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of TLS\SSL certificates, Web Application Security, and experience with certificate management tools (Venafi preferred)

  • Experience with Windows System administration

  • Scripting and programming experience using languages such as Python, JSON, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and methodologies, including automated builds, deployments and integration/unit testing

  • Experience with database technologies SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB

  • Experience with integrating and managing APIs exposing microservices (REST, SOAP) including development and support of JavaScript services

  • Knowledge of Cloud platform technologies such as AWS and Azure

  • Familiarity with OWASP top 10

  • Familiarity with SIEM tools (Splunk preferred)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Generally 3+ years of professional experience.

  • Proficient in two or more programming languages and tools; knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies.

  • Negotiation skills; oral and written communication skills.

  • General knowledge of the following: IT concepts, strategies and methodologies, IT architectures and technical standards.

  • General knowledge of a business function(s) and business operations.

  • Design and development tools.

  • General knowledge of layered systems architectures.

  • General understanding of shared software concepts.

  • General knowledge of architectures and technical standards.

  • General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes

  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.

  • Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements.

  • Understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery.

  • Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
