Liberty Mutual IT is seeking a highly technical, experienced Manager for our Accident and Health (A&H) teams. In this role you will manage and coach a highly skilled full-stack engineering team while providing guidance and coaching for effective Agile execution. You will oversee the design, development and implementation of mission critical initiatives as well as the operating plan and team member allocation for the group. You will be part of a mature, cross-functional, highly collaborative agile organization with a passion to deliver high value, innovative solutions by providing an intuitive, modern shared software development platform.

This team provides architectural leadership, support and enablement of modern, cloud-native software development. Implementing and influencing a platform based on the latest tools, principles, patterns and practices of cloud-native engineering, The A&H architecture provides capabilities that allow the organization to focus on rapid delivery of business value. This platform provides mission critical engineering enablement to our A&H business, allowing them to create and instantly deploy new applications while taking advantage of open source enterprise-class capabilities.

In this role you will:

• Lead an experienced, mature development team focused on a modern, enterprise-level software development platform

• Ensure development strategy and system architecture is aligned with business and IT strategic objectives and technology standards.
• Provide technical expertise and manage relationships with business partners, stakeholders and other development teams.
• Engage in leadership of architecture, design, development and testing of software projects.
• Anticipate and manage technology evolution and relate it to business solutions.
• Foster team adoption of software development best practices.
• Evangelize a culture of innovation by leveraging industry insights, analytics and operational metrics.
• Collaborating Solutions Architects to stay on top of technology trends and make strategic and tactical recommendations to support continuous improvement.
• Establish team financial plan and manage to plan.
• Hire, coach, counsel, develop and retain talent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Generally 5-7 years related experience with 2+ years in a leadership role.
• In-depth experience with Java, JavaScript.
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise software systems and cloud-native software engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of software development best practices and lean/agile methodologies.
• Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques.
• Experience working in an agile software development environment.

• Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.

• Naturally inquisitive with a customer-centric mindset.

Highly competitive applicants will have the following:

• Familiarity with modern cloud native development models.

• Experience leading a centralized team providing support to multiple aligned development teams.

• Expertise in Enterprise DevOps solutions with emphasis on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
• D2C and B2B ecommerce experience.
