The Partner & Raters team, part of the Global Retail Market (GRM) organization is looking for a enthusiastic Senior Software Engineer to join its comparative rater squad. This role directly supports the GRM US strategic objective of being #1 in the independent agent channel, and you will act as a thought leader in this space, helping their squad deliver innovative solutions, as well as sharing best practices across the broader portfolio. The solutions you and your squad deliver are key to our success in the comparative rater space, and put a premium on performance and complex business rules execution.

In this role you will use your technical and business knowledge to re-engineer business operations to improve business results. You will evaluate business requirements and model technical requirements in collaboration with product owner and test engineers. You will drive adoption of continuous integration and delivery pipelines, and be an advocate for automation of all processes done by your squad. You will work with your squad and your aligned technologist to identify areas of technical debt, and work with your product owner to accurately prioritize them in your backlog.

What youll do:


Be a technical leader for your team
Collaborate with a product owner and an autonomous team of engineers to find comprehensive solutions
Create libraries and tools which allow for scaling a large and distributed client development team
Become a developer advocate improving technical communications with developers at Liberty Mutual and foster a deeper understanding to their problems and needs
Facilitate collaboration between engineers, product owners, and designers
Possess a deep understanding of the product and business goals which you can translate into technology decisions
Mentor other engineers on your team
Analyzes technical system problems, and designs and implements effective solutions.
Handles end-to-end development, including coding, testing, and debugging during each cycle.
Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
Investigates components of new tools and technologies.

Qualifications:


Generally 5+ years of professional experience with object oriented development using C#, with knowledge of the .NET framework, including Visual Studio, HTML, JavaScript, and ASP.NET
Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, Stored Procedures
Strong Understanding of software development using current industry technologies.
Knowledge of diverse technologies and new and current architectures as well as experience building web services.
Proven working knowledge of ACORD XML strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Safeco/Liberty Mutual systems is helpful.
Experience leading and mentoring developers required with strong oral and written communication skills.
Good knowledge of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs; understanding of shared software concepts.
Strong knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes
Be dedicated, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.
Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and assist in applying customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements.
Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
