Job Introduction:

The Liberty Mutual Investments Technology team is actively looking to hire a candidate for the Product Owner II, Investments - Front Office position. This associate will use agile methods to deliver key technology in direct alignment with business strategies. This candidate defines and prioritizes the product backlog, sets quality standards for delivery, represents investment professional needs to the rest of the agile team.

About this job:

  • Responsible for articulating and translating the product vision into feature(s) and tactics for a particular product. Communicate the product strategy effectively to key stakeholders and team members. Contributes to the creation of a clear product vision and roadmap with the Director.

  • Responsible and accountable for assigned feature level key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Defines minimum viable product (MVP) for products/features in scope. Owns scrum team backlog (grooming, prioritization and refinement). Helps key stakeholders to better understand the product vision with Director support.

  • Works day to day with the scrum teams clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating and gaining alignment around feature or product strategy.

  • Analyzes feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential programs.

  • Participates in validation and testing of features prior to end user acceptance.

  • Sets the quality standard for delivery. Develops test plans (user story acceptance criteria), accepts each story and potentially features and participates in team demos and retrospectives to validate quality, provide feedback to team and improve team processes.

  • Approves final stories and approves completed user features or series of features.

Desired skills:

  • Bachelors` degree in relevant field (economics, finance, computer science, mathematics) - Some combination of business and technology education is highly preferred. Masters degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years` experience in business, engineering, technology and/or consulting.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and business / systems analysis.
  • Partner / Collaborate directly with Portfolio Managers and Investment research analyst.
  • Comfort and expertise with investment data sets (security master, holdings, portfolio analytics) and an ability to mine such date and produce analyses.
  • Familiarity with all asset classes and significant experience with fixed income.
  • Experience designing / delivering solutions to front office investment management across research, portfolio analysis (risk analysis), portfolio construction, and trading.
  • Experience managing a suite of vendor applications, with specific experience with Blackrock Aladdin, BiSam, Bloomberg and / or related platforms.
  • Skill at translating business need into technology features / stories.
  • Skill in analyzing data to determine opportunities for technology to provide business value.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
  • Able to depict complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions on a daily basis.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders-strong leadership skills.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.
