About the job:
The Software Delivery Jenkins team within Hosting Services Secure DevOps Platforms is looking to hire a Sr Software Engineer to join the team. This team is responsible for providing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines to enable teams with faster delivery of reliable, performant, and scalable software products. As a Sr Software Engineer working on the Jenkins Software Delivery team, you will be building a next generation CI/CD platform focused on helping teams accelerate their delivery to the Cloud. You will bring strong technical discipline with solid experience practicing Test Driven Development, a desire to learn and mentor others, and passion for solving technical challenges with the team.
- Work with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and peer developers to iteratively create technical solutions that meet business and technical requirements
- Analyze problems and design & implement effective solutions
- Handle iterative end-to-end development, including coding, testing, and debugging
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Provide 24 x 7 x 365 support through on-call rotation
Desired skills:
- Bachelors or Master's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
- Generally, 5+ years of professional development experience in a major development language (Java, JavaScript).
Experience with deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS (EC2, S3, ECS).
Intimate knowledge of Jenkins and CI/CD principles and concepts.
Strong Linux Systems Fundamentals with an understanding of scripting in Bash.
Familiarity with application monitoring tools such as Splunk and New Relic.
Experience with container technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Docker EE and Kubernetes.
Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills. Proficient in negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.
Understanding of agile software development concepts and processes
Must be proactive and demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker. Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements.
Thorough understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery. Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required.
