Job Summary
Under Moderate Supervision, performs professional accounting work requiring fundamental knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting theory to ensure current, accurate and complete financial information. Accounts for Fixed Income investments including: research and resolve daily cash exception activity, prepare related monthly and quarterly journal entries, prepare quarterly and annual STAT filings related to fixed income investments. Perform special financial analysis projects. Performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems which may require exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the manager.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Account for Fixed Income investments: Prepare complex and review routine financial activities related to Fixed Income investments, including journal entries and account reconciliation. Process activity in investment accounting system. Review investment system generated journal entries and prepare related exception entries on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Reconcile and resolve cash activity exceptions/differences between investment accounting system and custodian banks. Prepare related journal entries.

Prepare custody reconciliations. Research and resolve difference in holdings positions between the investment accounting system and custodian banks.

Perform special financial analysis projects as needed. Prepare various financial reports including GAAP, Statutory and Management. Identify and maximize tools to obtain data necessary to support financial analysis and create financial transactions. Responsibilities may include extracting and analyzing data.

Perform financial controls in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Prepare complex documentation and review moderately complex documentation to support Internal and External Audits. Interact with internal auditors on more routine issues on supervised basis.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of related work experience.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred. Typically 2-3 years related work experience. General knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting theory and practice. Knowledge of accounting for Fixed Income investments.


Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, attention to detail and data integrity. Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice, financial reporting, system testing, insurance operations/concepts, and internal controls. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and time management skills. Ability to work independently/as part of a team and to interact effectively with others across business area.
