Job Description

The Solution Engineer uses knowledge of applications and infrastructure to design application environments to meet current and future business needs.

The Solution Engineer-Lead Consultant undertakes medium complexity projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. The Solution Engineer-Lead Consultant coordinates with architecture, engineering, application teams, and the business on complex projects to determine requirements and ensure system enhancements are successfully implemented and monitored. The Solution Engineer-Lead Consultant has broad infrastructure knowledge and deep application knowledge.

You Will:

  • Collaborate with various architecture and engineering teams to gather requirements and provide solutions that meet performance, availability, capacity and resiliency targets for moderately complex systems.
  • Create the high-level technical design for one or more complex projects and difficult maintenance efforts by analyzing and tracing designs to requirements (business and functional) and systems architecture
  • Act as the bridge between the application and optimization teams. Lead design reviews, and perform analysis for one or more applications
  • Identify systems and technical constraints, potential technology risks, and document possible mitigation strategies for high complexity projects
  • Consult on the application of reference architecture and strategic direction of enterprise technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • May guide the design deliverables of Systems Analysts and Developers
  • Consults with Business Analysts to write functional design for high complexity projects
  • Manages design reviews, application design impacts between concurrent releases, and technical walkthroughs
  • Understands the technical details, integration, and functions of multiple applications, hardware, and/or software within a team. Executes and enforces best practices. May be responsible to identify and design for non-functional requirements
  • Provides technical input and act as point-of-contact during architectural assessments for area applications
  • Recommends technology solutions to meet business requirements. Partner with Business Analysts and possibly clients to improve business requirements and business process flows. Evaluates Proof of Concepts (POCs)
  • Implements technical process improvements. Manages technical process and application process flows
  • Recommends technology solutions to meet business requirements. Maintains understanding of software industry and provide direction for future solutions
  • Maintain awareness of current state application environments and business drivers.
  • Influence clients and partners to prioritize for enterprise benefit and risk reduction. Adopt technology solutions that leverage existing patterns, practices, roadmaps and Architecture direction.
  • Make recommendations for changes to the application environments or architecture
  • Provide technical and professional leadership and coach more junior level Solution Engineers.
  • Ensure the sharing of appropriate lessons learned. Participate in industry-related conferences and events.

Job Qualifications

  • College Degree with technical study or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years technical experience in architecture, design or systems engineering
  • 4+ years experience in SDLC (requirements, design, build, test, deploy) or similar; applicable technology certifications
  • 2-4 years of systems experience
  • Knowledge of technical design and writing required
  • Knowledge of Web, database, and integration technologies and languages, such as COBOL, PL/1, DB2, SQL, and IMS
  • Deep knowledge of Automation tools and practices (RPA, RDA, Web Service integration, OCR, ML, NLP), Blue Prism experience preferred
