Under supervision of the Engineering Manager, the RF / Systems Engineer will perform technical evaluations, develop test processes, and documentation required to support all production repair functions. PC hardware & software maintenance and troubleshooting skills are essential. Attention to detail and proficiency in analog, digital and RF disciplines is required.

Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Perform CDMA, GSM, LTE, & WiMax RF characterization utilizing cell site simulator equipment to include Willtek, Agilent, & Rohde & Schwarz test equipment.
  • Evaluate, test, and deploy OEM support applications to include device software, calibration files, PST and provisioning applications, and clearing applications.
  • Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) for purpose of editing, revising, and creating production documentation.
  • Evaluate new devices, OEM repair documents, test equipment and develop test processes to support compliance testing.
  • Support flashing and RF testing with regards to failure validation and resolution.
  • Coordinate with Assurant QA and Materials associates to address line impacting component escalations and determine alternate source components and related requirements.
  • Install and upgrade service programs, flash files, and OEM specific utilities with a focus on systems integration and support.

Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade school certification.
  • Requires 3+ years of experience in RF test and measurement (preferably at the engineering level) with strong customer service skills.
  • Work from complex device schematic, layouts, and diagrams.
  • Utilize multi meters, oscilloscopes, RF signal generators, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and communication test sets.
  • Interpret ISB’s, CSB’s, and FSB’s and other OEM and customer product specific documentation to determine relevance to daily responsibilities.
  • Actively identify & pursue RF test and process improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, dynamic assembly and logistics environment.
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proficient with the use of personal computer, entering data, and Internet Research
  • Ability to test new implementations in a pre-production environment
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with all levels of company personnel
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Occasional: bending, squatting, kneeling, reaching, twisting, exposure to changes in temperature, being near moving machinery, and office machinery
  • This position requires incumbents to regularly sit at a desk and operate standard office equipment such as a computer and bar code scanner
  • Employee is occasionally required to stand and walk, lift, carry and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Must be available to travel between facilities as needed.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Identify and report deficiencies and potential improvements to the Engineering department Supervisor
  • Perform root cause failure analysis on field failures (returns) and repair process failures.
  • Experience with Minitab, Visio, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and / or Labview are preferred but not required
