Job Summary


The Business Intelligence and Analytics value stream focuses on partnering with our business customers to build, deliver and solution capabilities that turn raw data into information, insights and recommendations that support business value throughout all aspects for the Business Insurance organization. As a member of the Business Insurance Analytics leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible for information delivery capabilities that enables business value through execution teams across multiple initiatives. The span of this role will include technology strategy, new development, production operations, maintenance and enhancements of the business intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities.

Marketing Description


The Business Intelligence and Analytics value stream focuses on partnering with our business customers to build, deliver and solution capabilities that turn raw data into information, insights and recommendations that support business value throughout all aspects for the Business Insurance organization. As a member of the Business Insurance Analytics leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible for information delivery capabilities that enables business value through execution teams across multiple initiatives. The span of this role will include technology strategy, new development, production operations, maintenance and enhancements of the business intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leads and directs a team of 50 employees and 150 global sourcing partner resources to accomplish business, corporate and departmental goals and objectives with budgetary oversight of $15 million.
  • Leads cross organizational (Business Insurance and Enterprise) initiatives, planning, communication and ensures alignment with a broad set of Technology and Business teams.
  • Supports and influences the enterprise strategy that relates to business intelligence and advanced analytical capabilities.
  • Partners with peers and leaders across the organization in implementing strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with Travelers objectives.
  • Leads the effort to utilize current industry trends and technology to prototype, develop, build and/or redesign the business intelligence and advanced analytical capabilities and solutions
  • Works with other divisional and enterprise areas on tool selection, best practices, alignment with technologies and approaches.
  • Manages the production process and support for Information Delivery assets
  • Contributes significantly to the development of the strategic plan for Information Delivery including identification of appropriate infrastructures, tools and performance requirements
  • Develops an understanding of the data landscape and information delivery assets and will drive cost and technology improvements that result in efficient and high-quality solutions
  • Effectively engages as a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the Business Insurance Analytics Technology organization.
  • Provides human resources management, including coaching, performance management, team development and growth, and workforce planning for a direct organization of +50 employees


Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. 5 years of technology or business related experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
MS degree in a related field preferred. 10 years of technology or business related experience preferred. 5 years of experience managing others preferred.

Planning and Project Management: Insures all planning done on the department level is supportive of the business strategic plans. Delegates appropriately while maintaining accountability. Sees that projects are assigned by workload and staff capabilities. Completes projects accurately and on time. Critical planning is required as modifications are difficult and costly and may impair achieving objectives. Change requires reassessing and adjusting strategic and/or tactical direction. Knowledge of Agile methodology and ability to apply them to projects of moderate complexity. In the Agile environment the 2VP level typically performs as the Value Stream Engineer. Financial Awareness: Accounts for all fiscal budgeting and expense control for area of responsibility. Demonstrates sound cost-effectiveness. Failure to achieve objectives will have a significant negative impact on the department and business area. Is responsible for information of importance and disclosure could harm the overall financial position of the company. Human Resource Management: Provides career growth for all direct and indirect reports by supporting technical and professional development/training, mentoring, promotional opportunities, adequate support services, and challenging work assignments. Supports and facilitates people's efforts in a productive environment. Maintains a balance between people and organization. Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all performance evaluations and development planning. Demonstrates a capacity to recognize, value and respect differences across a diverse workforce.
