Job Details
GAINSCO Auto Insurance markets non-standard private passenger automobile products through retail agencies, in 10 States. GAINSCO Auto Insurance has fully integrated insurance capabilities, including marketing, underwriting, customer service and claims handling. Our operations are bilingual (English/Spanish).
GAINSCO Auto Insurance has an immediate opening for a Claims Adjuster I in the Southwest Claims Department located in Dallas, Texas.
Job Purpose: To investigate, evaluate and settle claims, applying technical knowledge and human relations skills to effect fair and prompt disposal of claims and to contribute to a reduced loss ratio

Establishes proof of loss by studying documentation submitted; assembling additional information as required from outside sources such as claimant, witnesses, physician, employer, hospital, and other insurance companies; initiates investigation of questionable claims.

Resolves claim by approving or denying documentation; calculating benefits due; initiating payment or composing denial letter

Ensure legal compliance by following guidelines, company policies, and state and federal insurance regulations

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Bachelors degree is preferred.
Experience: Previous Customer Service and/or Claims experience within an Insurance environment is preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to manage own time while prioritizing multiple tasks; ability to remain calm when dealing with difficult customers; effective negotiating skills; ability to gather and analyze information in order to evaluate results and choose the best solution to the problem.
Other: A valid State Adjusters License where required; Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; occasional weekend work is required.
Office Equipment and Software: Computers; telephones; fax; scanners; General computer skills: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Internet; Knowledge of Image Right and Claims Manager.
Decision Making: Decisions on liability and when and how much to pay out claims
Interpersonal Communication: Daily interaction with claimants, attorneys, other insurance companies; Customer Service Department
Compensation:
Hourly wage based on experience. Excellent benefits package: medical, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, short term and long term disability insurance, 401K, Paid Vacation and Holidays. All offers are contingent upon a background investigation (including employment, education, criminal and DMV verification, when applicable) and a pre-employment drug test with results satisfactory to GAINSCO.
