Job Introduction:

The Corporate Finance organization is embarking on a significant system modernization effort which will impact the entire enterprise. These efforts are focused on such items as our general ledger, financial reporting systems, planning, budgeting, fixed assets, accounts payable, and taxation. The Senior Scrum Master will work closely with multiple product owners and business leaders across finance and help shape the work of multiple squads in technology. This associate will also help finance refine our agile practices that were launched earlier this year. This will include quarterly and long-term strategic planning. The role will require frequent presence in the Boston office given the location of business and technology teams.

About the job:

  • Implements consistent process and tools for program management.

  • Aggregates scrum team objectives and progress and publishes to business and all team members to ensure visibility and transparency.

  • Removes impediments through provision of appropriate resources, guidance and escalation.

  • Collaborates with senior product owner and senior architect to ensure alignment on strategy and execution.

  • Facilitates interaction and appropriate communication between scrum teams, architecture and UX.

  • Ensures adherence to agile practice through program increment planning, retrospectives, etc. for scrum teams.

  • Ensures successful delivery of large impact and/or cross-functional product initiatives.

  • Coaches, mentors and provides guidance to scrum masters.

  • Provides input on Scrum Master performance.

Desired skills:

  • Bachelors degree in communications, Business, Computer Science or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 6 years of IT and project/program management and experience in Agile software development including coaching on agile methodologies.

  • Requires ability to manage projects from conception to successful implementation.

  • Requires solid project management skills, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.

  • Requires excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team building skills, business judgment, and proven expertise in directing the efforts of a technical staff.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives. Familiarity with scaling frameworks and methodologies with three plus years experience as a Scrum Master, Product Owner or Agile Coach. Strong communication, facilitation, presentation and consensus building skills.

Preferred skills:

  • Knowledge of Financial systems and practices is critical, and knowledge of Liberty Mutual preferred.
