Strategic Partnerships Group (SPG) is a 125+ person strong team that rolls up into Global Retail Markets-US Marketing, Direct & Digital organization. Our key priorities are to efficiently expand the partner footprint through driven policy production, create and deliver compelling three way value propositions, enable the next gen partner ecosystem, and aggressively drive lead monetization through Libertys choice strategy. SPG is the business development center of excellence for GRM. We manage thousands of partnerships with both affinity lead generation providers and binding partners and are focused on growing both Safeco & Liberty brands profitably, adding more value for our existing customers and building out our powerhouse team.


About this role: Segment Manager A&H (gr. 19)

As the Accident and Health Segment Manager in the Strategic Partnerships Group (SPG) department, you will be responsible for the strategy and profitable growth of Accident and Health across all traditional SPG segments. You will develop go to market approach and strategic roadmaps for emerging external partners selling A&H insurance for Liberty Mutual. You will influence partner strategy and direct non-employee agents to acquire and retain high quality customers for GRM-US. You will lead & facilitate cross-functional support to generate profitable new A&H insurance. Your role will be equal parts external key account management, new business development, and be accountable for quarterbacking the onboarding and implementation process as the post sales process is critical to being successful. You will manage the feedback loop with partner leadership and monitor performance trends to understand factors impacting performance. You will develop recommendations to optimize results and frequently present to internal and external stakeholders on partner relationship health.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops the go-to market strategy for the Emerging A&H channel as well as enabling tactical plans to drive profitable growth through assigned accounts.
  • Manages senior leader relationships with external partners by communicating strategies, results, and capabilities in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Monitors key performance indicators under management. Presents results to internal and external stakeholders. Implement process improvements to optimize results.

  • Leads cross-functional team to attain and/or exceed all sales objectives and organizational goals. Goals include generating new business policy and premium sales; supporting profitability through quality measures; and developing a complete end to end case installations process partnering with third parties for payroll and enrollment, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities and leads special projects which may include in-depth research and analysis to assess a problem and/or offer a solution to meet both internal and external stakeholder needs, including managing and supporting relationships with third party administrators, as necessary.
  • Participates on various internal committees and ensures leadership is kept up-to-date on partner health. Maintains ongoing communication with stakeholders to ensure and facilitate execution of organizational key performance indicators. Coordinates and resolves issues with internal stakeholders such as underwriting and compliance.
  • Provides ongoing support to non-employee agents to help market and sell A&H insurance products for Liberty Mutual.
  • Maintains in-depth product knowledge of Liberty Mutual insurance products and systems, including state desirability, underwriting appetite and technical specifications.
  • Develops recommendations to improve sales results and present to internal and external stakeholders to drive adoption of ideas. Identifies and communicates best practices to maximize results.
  • Works to maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients by developing and executing proactive, creative initiatives and maintaining ongoing contact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in business discipline or related experience. Seeking more than 5 years related experience in financial strategy role.
  • Voluntary Benefits experience a strong plus, preferably A&H expertise. Extensive experience in planning, data driven decision making, and relationship management with a track record of accomplishment in complex sales environments.
  • Dynamic, seasoned leader with strong technology experience. Program / account management experience delivering multiple large scale projects and influencing third parties.
  • Proven experience with influencing and managing mutually beneficial third party relationships.
  • Strategic thinker with deep business acumen and understanding of call center business strategy.
  • Ability to work closely with the cross functional partners within GRM-US and establish strong relationships - both internally with business units, and externally, with partners. Ability to promote a team environment consisting of several geographically dispersed employees.
  • Highly effective analytical, negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills. Change leader who is customer focused and translates vision into actionable deliverables.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills - can do deep dives while staying focused.
  • Exceptional program management skills and the ability to organize, plan, execute enterprise projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance marketplace, strategies and methodologies of carrier owned agencies.
  • Exceptional skill and proven track record of highly developed oral and written communication skills; including very strong presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Travel up to 30%, this will ebb and flow with business development cycles.
