We are seeking a Director of Internal Communications that will be responsible for designing, leading and continuously improving communication strategies and plans within Liberty Mutual Insurance. You will be responsible for developing, leading and executing communications to keep Liberty Mutual employees engaged. Additionally, you will be responsible for keeping employees informed about events, progress and priorities.

You will:

  • Lead the employee engagement strategy and goals for matrixed organizations, and inspire the team to successfully deliver against those goals.
  • Champion the companys philanthropic, community, diversity and inclusion programs with Liberty Mutual employees around the globe.
  • Run communications activities that promote, improve and protect our internal brand and reputation.
  • Develop significant communication campaigns that are strategic and complex in nature such as cultural transformation, critical employee programs relating to the things we value, large-scale organizational announcements with significant impact, etc.
  • Influence senior leader communications, including providing counsel and support to C-level executives. Maintain a consistent voice for all leadership communications. You will also translate business/functional objectives and key priorities into strategic internal communications plans.
  • Resolve and implement the most effective, efficient, and impactful methods and channels to achieve communication objectives.
  • Partner with aligned leaders to ensure they are equipped with the proper tools and skills to communicate the strategy effectively to target audience to accomplish overall communications objectives. May work with aligned executives to build their executive brand through internal communications strategies.
  • Implement metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication plan delivery within their aligned functions/business units. Use metrics to inform strategic plans on how to improve, enhance or innovate future communications. Continuously improve and find opportunities to measure communication effectiveness.
  • Apply organizational change management theory and methodologies in the development of plans to improve the success of communications.
  • Team up with key partners in the organization to ensure that the internal communications plans are aligned with necessary company policies and Liberty Mutual brand guidelines as necessary.
  • Define team and individual performance objectives and development plans and ensure alignment with project and department objectives.
  • Influence, collaborate, and analyze projects within and across business units.
  • Collaborate with agencies on programs to engage Liberty Mutual employees.
  • Have accountability for the performance and results of multiple related units.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in Communications or related field). Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant and dynamically more responsible communications experience with 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding and highly developed oral and written communication skills; including very strong presentation and collaboration skills.
  • Strong program management skills and the ability to organize, plan, execute enterprise communication strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management concepts, practices and techniques and the ability to promote a team environment.
  • Experience as a change leader with experience focusing on the customer by translating a vision into actionable deliverables.
