WSS is currently seeking a skilled Associate Underwriter to work in our Plano, Texas office. This position will provide support to an experienced team of underwriters, whose primary focus is on business related to the hospitality industry. The successful candidate will initially lend support to the underwriting team and can expect to transition into a full-time underwriting role.  This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced insurance professional who is looking for a new challenge. Also encouraged to apply are college graduates who took insurance-related courses.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, coordinate and quote new and renewal business with input from Underwriters
  • Assist Underwriters by processing and billing new and renewal business
  • Analyze, process and provide a rating for premium and non-premium endorsements, including audits, cancellations & reinstatement
  • Review inspections as directed by the Underwriter
  • Notify carrier of claims
  • Provide prompt and professional customer service to our wholesale brokers and insurance carriers
  • Other underwriting, technical and clerical support as required

Education And Experience Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of concepts and procedures related to commercial property and casualty insurance which is typically acquired through a bachelor’s degree in a related field or at least 2 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience
  • Ability to learn and maintain an in-depth knowledge of all binding authority contracts
  • Must be able to understand and analyze necessary components of insurance policies
  • Minimum 1 year wholesale or E&S related experience preferred
  • Knowledge or experience working in or with Restaurants, Bars or related Hospitality field is highly desired
  • Obtain Texas Property & Casualty Insurance license within 120 days of employment
  • Proficient computer knowledge including all aspects of Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with ImageRight and AIM is preferred but not required
  • Highly organized, able to multi-task, detail-oriented and possesses a sense of urgency
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment essential
  • Strong desire to advance career
