Job Summary
Conduct analytical and consulting work to assess the risk of financial loss due to natural and manmade catastrophes. Provide technical, analytic and research support to evaluate catastrophe risk and manage achievement of risk reward tolerances. Collaborates with and influences business to support the achievement of financial objectives. This job does not manage others This job works under Broad Oversight: Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and establishes the methods to attain them. Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work and typically formulates policy for this area, but may have final authority for approving policy.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Serve as subject matter expert for catastrophe risk evaluation. Develop the strategy and lead the quantitative and analytic support for reporting and modeling, including managing timelines and analyzing results (e.g. significant changes and trends). Works with business to understand historical losses and current business dynamics to determine guidelines of catastrophe loss Broad knowledge of Enterprise CAT Informational Technology platforms and Business Intelligence tools. Analyzes policyholder/reinsurance coverage and interprets impact to catastrophe results. Partners with business to design and/or change product coverage offerings. Leads project and analytical teams evaluating risk/reward metrics. Champions a data-driven, fact based approach to manage achievement of risk reward tolerances. Develops and ensures catastrophe peril research and modeling support view of risk. Identify trends, analyze results and formulate hypothesis for potential research and analysis. Determines changes needed to models and business processes to reflect latest science and Travelers view of risk. Provide feedback and interpretation of business and market results. Provide insight into Travelers impacts to management. Ensures coordinated event response across the Enterprise and/or individual business unit. Partners with Underwriting, Enterprise Risk Management, Actuarial, Product, Reinsurance and Finance to influence and ensure alignment of enterprise risk strategy. Collaborates with and influences business to support the achievement of financial objectives. Works with Business Leaders to determine risk strategy for emerging issues related to natural and man-made catastrophe perils, which may include weather trends, climate related risks, cyber and new science. Manage complex regulatory inquiries. Communicates impact of legislative actions. Stays abreast of potential catastrophe legislation. Proactively stays abreast of data sources, identifies best internal and external data sources in response to business requests. Ensures analysis appropriately addresses business question/issue. Directs the development, interpretation, and presentation of analyses and recommendations to targeted audiences. Presents to Senior Management. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
7 years relevant analytics experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
G-Bachelor's Level Degree Bachelors Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft suite, SQL, geospatial, statistical packages or other programs used to retrieve and analyze data preferred. Master knowledge of insurance concepts, coverage, products and operations preferred.
