Job purpose

The Licensing Department ensures that the company, as well as all adjusters are licensed
properly, for multiple license types, across the United States. Maintaining compliance
throughout the life span of said licenses and updating company executives and/or adjusters on
state regulation/statute changes.

Duties and responsibilities

The main functions in the Licensing Department are:
· Apply, renew, maintain and terminate as required per state regulations for corporate and
adjuster licenses nationally.
· Apply, renew, maintain and terminate as required per state regulations; affiliations,
appointments and bonds for all corporate and adjuster licenses nationally.
· Evaluate and approve, W2 and 1099 applicants for accurate licensing information before
joining Custard’s team.
· Evaluate and process 1099 applications.
· File and maintain Secretary of State informational returns for all states.
· File and maintain Business Personal Property Tax returns for all branches.
· Maintain accuracy in all databases and monthly reports.
· Search, update and notify appropriate personnel on all licensing state statute/regulation
changes.
· Coordinates with licensees, state departments, legal counsel and executives on the many
aspects of the compliance realm.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
 

The employee will also, on a limited basis, assist the Risk Manager and General Counsel with the
following tasks as time permits:

  • Assist with facilitated risk sessions, to include coordinating the sessions and taking notes
  • during the sessions.
  • Assist with maintenance and periodic updating of the organization’s risk “heat map.”
  • Gather and evaluate risk-related data from internal and external resources.
  • While formal legal training is not required, assist General Counsel with various projects
  • to include:

o Litigation management

o Legal research

o Contract drafting and review

o Drafting of other legal documents

o Maintenance of various spreadsheets and files

o Possesses aptitude for data management
o Maintain discretion concerning all information of a confidential nature.
o Willing to take initiative, exhibit creative thinking and ownership of task.
o Ability to perform detailed searches for state statute requirements.
o Ability to learn multiple software systems at once.
o Use multiple software at same time on multiple screens.
o Complete all tasks timely, efficiently, accurately and according to company SOPs.

 

Experience
o At least one year’s experience in past compliance position preferred
o Computer Proficient: Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet. Adobe Pro beneficial.
