Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
The Data Engineer role will perform detailed data designs, expert level programming, configuration and analysis for the applications within the Claim Business Intelligence and Analytics Value Stream. This role will work closely with architecture and product owners to ensure adherence to the business and technical roadmaps and serves as a subject matter expert for assigned application/business. And, provides team direction, technical guidance, feedback to technical resources, and builds and maintains relationships across the enterprise

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience, and five years of programming/development experience.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 6 years of programming/development experience preferred.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Experience designing and delivering highly usable software that satisfies the business requirements.
  • Experience in creating and operationalizing Data Products while maintaining core data management competencies - Data Governance, Data Security, Data Quality.
  • Experience with one or more ETL / Data Integration tools (e.g.: Ab Initio, Informatica, SSIS).
  • Experience with one or more Data platforms (e.g.: Teradata, Hadoop, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2).
  • Experience with one or more Analytic/Data Visualization tools (e.g.: Cognos, Qlik) a plus.
  • Exposure to building Big Data / Hadoop software solutions on-prem / Public Cloud such as AWS a plus.
  • Exposure to building data pipelines utilizing technologies and frameworks (Python, Scala, Java) a plus.
  • Exposure to writing Shell/Perl scripts in LINUX, Power shell in Windows a plus.
  • Must demonstrate a proactive nature with willingness to contribute, collaborate and work in an Agile team environment.
  • Curiosity of or experience with agile and lean philosophies.
  • Exposure with DevOps implementation practices.
Preferred qualification of a bachelor's degree and further education or experience in engineering, computer science or other technical related field.

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
May occasionally require weekend or evening hours.

Physical Requirements
Operates standard office equipment. Requires extended periods of computer use. Requires extended periods of sitting.
