In this role you will manage staff, provide technical guidance and Agile leadership within our Personal Lines Telematics portfolio. Your focus will be on leading a team of development professionals supporting our ByMile and RightTrack products.


Duties include employee professional development, application ownership/stewardship, and leadership for these teams within their agile release train and transformation journey.


In this role you will:


  • Have application ownership for Telematics and related capabilities, including sub-components within the Sales and Service application ecosystem. Responsible for leading two agile teams of 5-8 developers each.
  • Work with architecture and the agile teams to ensure system, technical, and product architecture are aligned with business objectives.
  • Support Senior Product Owners and/or Product Owner(s) to ensure the agile teams are positioned with resources and tools to meet business objectives and functional needs
  • Ensure agile teams have what they need to successfully deliver high quality software solutions; intervene only when necessary to remove an impediment, staffing issue, or quality.
  • Work with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and team members to ensure service level agreements are met, problems are resolved in a timely manner, and necessary support is in place for a stable and performance application.
  • Hire and manage individual contributors; coach and counsel team members. Define individual performance objectives and development plans and ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Appraise and evaluate team and individual performance and make compensation recommendations. Facilitate or provide mentoring experience.
  • Responsible for unit's workforce and talent management plans, including skills forecasting, staff development, training and succession planning.
  • May establish financial plan for the application, portfolio or overall unit and manages to plan
  • Initiate and foster collaborative partnerships with current and potential clients, IT and business managers, vendors and IT executives; develop relationships that support increasing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • May lead efforts to evaluate, select and implement new technologies to enhance application, until or portfolio.
  • Participate in the development of business and/or IT vision, strategies, critical success factors and operating plans for application, unit or portfolio.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

  • Generally, 5-7 years related experience with 2+ years in a leadership role with direct accountability for managing employees.

  • Requires excellent analytical ability, consultative, communication, presentation and management skills, strong judgment and ability to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff.

  • Requires strong negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills;

  • In-depth knowledge of software development best practices and lean/agile methodologies.

  • In-depth knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategies.

  • Advanced knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques.

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment.

  • Ability to manage administratively aligned and cross-functional squads.

  • Naturally inquisitive with a customer-centric mindset.
