Claims Attorney - Commercial General Liability/Auto | Dallas, TX area (Irving)

Insurance Placement Solutions has an immediate opening for a General Liability Claims Attorney with our client in their Dallas, TX area (Irving) location. As a member of our client’s claims team, manage complex Commercial Auto Liability and General Liability exposures for IRM captive and self- insured programs, working in concert with the Claims Director, adjusting staff and in-house litigation counsel. Oversee the investigation, defense, and coverage analysis to resolve commercial automobile and general liability claims to achieve accurate outcomes while managing duties and communications with policyholders, captive members, clients, reinsurance carriers and IRM. Includes the oversight of defense counsel, and may involve assisting in-house counsel in discovery and in defending lawsuits.

General Liability Claims Attorney Responsibilities

• Oversees the direct handling of claims including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement.
• Implement proactive claims and litigation management strategy to arrive at the most cost efficient outcome while managing defense counsel, adjusting staff or directly handling litigation to meet obligations to policyholders, clients and carriers.
• Ensures claim processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures and department guidelines.
• Ability to recognize coverage issues as they arise and promptly interpret policy language to complete reservation of rights and declination letters.
• Other tasks as assigned by the Claims Director or in-house defense counsel.
• Establishes and executes controls to assure that the quality of the work meets or exceeds standards.
• Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.

Experience

• Prefer experience practicing law and/or claims management experience with ability to assist in-house counsel with defense of cases.

Education

• Juris Doctorate with proven experience directly handling and/or managing complex and litigated casualty claims on a primary or excess basis.
