Job Summary
Works under broad oversight. Does not manage others. Provides strategic thought leadership and subject matter expertise to the business planning process then develops integrated marketing plan in support of the business objectives. Works collaboratively across the Enterprise to coordinate and optimize the necessary resources to ensure the appropriate execution of the marking plan. The position will identify growth opportunities and recommend strategic direction. Position does not directly manage others. Broad oversight: Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and establishes the methods to attain them. Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work and typically formulates policy for this area, but may have final authority for approving policy.

Marketing Description

Embedded in the business as a member of the senior leadership team for Commercial Accounts and reports to the Marketing Strategy Lead for Business Insurance. Provides strategic thought leadership and subject matter expertise to the business planning process then develops marketing strategies in support of the business objectives. Utilizes market research, business insights and situational analysis to enhance or modify the direction of the business unit marketing plan. Works collaboratively across the Enterprise to coordinate and optimize the necessary resources to ensure the appropriate execution of the marketing strategy. The position will identify growth opportunities, recommend strategic direction and ensure value creation. Provides outside-in perspective including VOC (voice of the customer) and VOA (voice of the agent). Translating the in-depth customer understanding for the 20+ industry segments in Commercial Accounts, ranging from manufacturing to healthcare to higher education into a business advantage. Stays abreast of and incorporates the latest marketing tools, concepts & resources where appropriate. Understands implications of key market and competitive trends. Analyzes and understands the implications of loss ratio and key profit and loss contributors. Utilizes the Controllable Income Statement and Business Management reports to formulate marketing strategy. Demonstrates expertise in budgeting, cost reduction, and cost management by aligning campaigns/projects with business strategy. Creates and delivers effective presentations to a variety of audiences at all levels to increase the marketing acumen of the business and to explain the marketing strategy and tactics to enable the sales process. Facilitates discussion to encourage dialog/brainstorming fostering innovative thought that will enhance the business and marketing strategy.



Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy: Acts as trusted advisor to provide strategic thought leadership and subject matter expertise to the assigned business unit(s). Influences senior leaderships position on issues based on in-depth understanding of the business, its plans, operations, the market and the marketing discipline. Participates in the development of the assigned business units business plan then translates the business objectives into an integrated marketing plan to meet the business objectives. Is accountable for the development and execution oversight of the strategic marketing plan. Collaborates with functions such as Enterprise Marketing, Digital Marketing, eBusiness, Customer Experience, Operations, Field Management and other Marketing Strategy Leads to ensure a coordinated Go-to-Market approach. Utilizes market research, business insights and situational analysis to enhance or modify the direction of the business unit marketing plan. Works with Enterprise Market Research to incorporate existing and/or new research data into marketing strategy and to identify new business opportunities. Provides outside-in perspective, VOC, VOA. Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the customers view and can translate into business advantage. Stays abreast of and incorporates the latest marketing tools, concepts & resources where appropriate. Understands implications of key market and competitive trends. Analyzes and understands the implications of loss ratio and key profit and loss contributors. Utilizes the appropriate financial statements and business management reports to formulate marketing strategy. Understands internal business unit organizational structure and how it impacts delivery of marketing plan. Develops and manages marketing budget for assigned business unit and ensure optimal use of all resources. Demonstrates expertise in budgeting, cost reduction, and cost management by aligning campaigns/projects with business strategy. Ensures that the campaign and sales support plans in support of the marketing strategy are appropriately executed. Demonstrates in-depth understanding of target audience, highly effective communication style. Is able to effectively translate the vision, value proposition and business objectives into compelling messages. Has the ability to adapt the message as appropriate. Creates and delivers effective presentations to a variety of audiences at all levels to increase the marketing acumen of the business and to explain the marketing strategy and tactics to enable the sales process. Facilitates discussion to ensure understanding of the information presented and to encourage dialog/brainstorming fostering innovative thought that will enhance the business and marketing strategy. Provides coaching and direction to junior level Strategy Leads, Campaign and Sales Support staff. Works in conjunction with Sales, Underwriting, Product Management, Product Development. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of experience. Extensive experience translating customer and/or market research into actionable plans

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in marketing or other related field preferred. Typically 8-10 years of experience. Leadership experience. Extensive experience creating strategic marketing plans in support of business goals and objectives. Thorough knowledge of the Property Casualty Insurance Industry preferred. Familiarity with a 3rd party independent distribution (sales) model (independent agents, brokers, MGAs, banks, etc.) preferred. Experience developing and delivering effective executive level presentation. Marketing/product experience in industries related to Property Casualty Insurance businesses also highly desired (i.e.. Technology, Transportation, Oil & Gas, et.). Extensive experience leading project teams. Thorough Knowledge: Possesses advanced knowledge of subject matter in order to solve unusual as well as common work problems.
