Job Summary

Develop and maintain SPs, ad-hoc queries, UDFs, Views, Triggers, and SSRS reports / scorecards / dashboards for our SQL Server Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence infrastructure.  Develop PowerBI reports and dashboards.  Monitor usage of data resources.  Identify, analyze and resolve database performance issues. 

Occasionally develop SSIS packages for translation and movement of data between vendor systems and the Data Warehouse.  Occasionally extend and maintain SSAS OLAP cubes. 

Job Responsibilities

 

Essential Functions

  • Develop institutional reports using SSRS, Power BI, and refreshable Excel Pivot tables.
  • Proactively communicate directly with business representatives to extract requirements and review work in progress.
  • Respond to user needs for ad hoc queries using T-SQL
  • Assist in monitoring production jobs, correcting failures, troubleshooting and solving problems
  • Manage break/fix events and drive solutions to correct and prevent recurring issues
  • Monitor and improve overall health of data warehouse environment
  • Communicate data warehouse related issues, changes and outages to department manager and end user community
  • Occasionally develop SSIS packages and modify / extend SSAS OLAP cubes
  • Recommend standards, procedures, and policies that help both the internal group as well as other operations and customer groups
  • Organize work schedule to achieve timely processing of all responsibilities.
  • Abide by all company or department policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • Attend and participate in department meetings

 

Job Qualifications

Formal Education & Certification

Requires a 4 year degree in a related technical area.

Knowledge & Experience

2 - 5 years of experience as a SQL / Data Warehouse Developer in a SQL Server environment.  Strong knowledge of T-SQL (candidates will be tested).  Must have considerable experience with creating stored procedures and functions, and creating SSRS reports.  Experience with SSIS preferred. Ability to design, develop, tune, and maintain OLAP cubes using Microsoft SSAS a big plus.

  • Auto insurance experience preferred.
