Description:

The person in this position is responsible for the administration of the health and welfare programs through third party system, leave of absence and worker's compensation programs. You will be responsible for implementing, modifying and administering employee benefit plans, policies, and procedures for over 14,000 employees, with special emphasis on health programs including Medical Claims Management and Pharmacy Benefit Management agreements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with outside organizations on analysis, risk assessment, and legal/regulatory and policy compliance.

  • Must be business and strategy focused, advising leadership and managing HR staff.

  • Develop and administer programs including medical, dental, vision, life, FSAs, disability, workers' comp, pension and service awards.

  • Review benefit programs and make cost-justified recommendations to improve their value to employees while ensuring cost containment.
  • Oversee the review and evaluation of laws and regulations related to employee benefits. 
  • Obtain legal and tax opinions in questionable or marginal circumstances. 
  • Review and negotiate contracts, insurance policies, service agreements, and letters of agreement to insure they are in compliance with all federal and state law.
  • Ensure benefit changes are prepared in a timely manner, and employee communication and education materials are maintained at the appropriate level.
  • Resolve complex individual employee benefit issues.
  • Present new policies, procedures, and ideas at various executive meetings.



Qualifications

Qualifications:  
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the benefits function from a strategic standpoint along with financial acumen.

  • Advanced knowledge in health and welfare benefits management and demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to develop and motivate employees.

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in a related field preferred

  • 10 years' experience developing, implementing and administering employee benefit plans.

  • Progressive experience with Medical Claim Management and Pharmacy Benefits Management.

  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal, networking, and presentation
  • Strong vendor management skills including contracting, metrics, issue resolution, budget management, and driving continuous improvement.
