TITLE: Catastrophic Risk Analyst

DUTIES:

Work as part of an industry leading team designing and developing fault-tolerant, scalable, secure and cost- effective business applications for Catastrophe Insurance. The Catastrophe Analyst Team collaborates to design, build, and develop tools and applications that enhance our Underwriting expertise and deliver more profitability (primarily focused on earthquake and flood risk). Quantify the company's exposure to catastrophe risk and create the tools that the underwriters use to process business and to predict the future. Build tools to support underwriting using various programs (AWS, SQL, JAVA, Vaadin Web Framework, and SAS). Write code that optimizes the performance of cloud services used by business applications and develop those applications. Act as a liaison between catastrophe model vendors, company IT staff, and company underwriting staff during the installation and upgrading of catastrophe model software. Design, build, track and manage back-end databases: catastrophe risk portfolio aggregations, data quality, and modeled loss estimates (RMS, AIR, and EQE). Architect solutions for storing and analyzing big data. Leverage cloud API's to interact with cloud services. Design and maintain cloud infrastructure, including networking and security. Track and manage back-end catastrophe risk portfolio aggregations, data quality, and modeled loss estimates. Analyze Underwriting workflow and make suggestions for improvement, especially as it pertains to catastrophe modeling. Provide monthly and ad-hoc reports to management regarding the catastrophe risk portfolio. Collaborate with analyst team and report directly to the Senior Executive responsible for all Special Property and Catastrophe business. Provide training materials, documentation, and suggestions to Underwriting staff concerning catastrophe models as needed.

Candidate must also have academic or industry experience in all the following skills:

1). Java

2). AWS

3). SQL

4). Web Services

5). Linux, SML and Web application development

6). Designing, building and developing tools and applications

7). Designing and managing back-end databases

Requirements:

Will accept a Master's Degree or foreign academic equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree field and two (2) years of experience in a related occupation. Will also accept a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree field and five (5) years of progressive experience in a related occupation. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training or experience.

40 hours/week; $95,000.00/year
