Job Summary
Travelers is seeking an experienced Email Marketing and Operations Manager to launch and manage ongoing email marketing campaigns both to independent agents and to customers in support of retention and cross-sell goals across multiple lines of business.

Reporting into the Director of Email Marketing in Enterprise Digital Marketing (EDM), the Email Marketing and Operations Manager will manage data and list management, template setup and adjustment, behavioral rules, and campaign setup and delivery within Salesforce Marketing Cloud. In addition to acting as a go-to resource within the EDM team for campaign and list issues, s/he will execute specific campaigns.

The winning candidate has significant experience with running email operations and working with email service providers. Experience with setting up behavioral-based campaigns is required, and expertise with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Journeys is particularly helpful. S/he is familiar with writing business requirements for technology partners and working closely on data issues ranging from defining fields for personalization to adjusting segmentation criteria.

Finally, the Email Marketing and Operations Manager will participate in and may lead work streams as part of the cross-functional Email Center of Excellence in support of businesses across the enterprise. As such, s/he needs to be a strong collaborator inside and outside the group, working with marketing business owners from different lines of business and helping them achieve their objectives while maintaining a customer-centric approach to communicating with customers and agents using email best practices.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Implement digital and content marketing strategies that raise relevant awareness with target audiences, deepen engagement with valuable content and increase preference and demand for Travelers utilizing rich email marketing programs.
  • Research daily and weekly email performance and recommend strategies around topic flow and calendar/frequency, targeting/segmentation, personalization and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud journeys to drive efficient campaign results in support of the overall email marketing strategy.
  • Recommend specific tests (e.g. A/B, segmentation, targeting) and execute against the learning agenda of digital marketing leadership.
  • Co-lead specific Email Center of Excellence work streams, as assigned, to develop a best-in-class email program across the company, founded in best practices in people, process, technology and data.
  • Manage and execute processes related to the ongoing adoption and enhancement of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud email platform, including data import/export, list management and hygiene processes, training, governance and operations.
  • Manage specific aspects of the centralized email marketing planning and calendar development process.
  • Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with the relevant Analytics team in service of business objectives, measuring content and campaign performance and aligning to common email Measurement Model as defined by the Email Center of Excellence.
  • Manage email campaign trafficking and deployment process, including gaining approvals on creative, sourcing tracking codes and testing media before going live, using in-house and vendor-supplied campaign management tools, in coordination with in-house and agency operations teams.
  • Participate in collaborative discussions with business partners to document their goals, make recommendations to digital marketing leadership regarding strategies and tactics to achieve goals and help craft materials (e.g. decks, research) to present the team's recommendations related to email
  • Act as day-to-day point of contact working with the internal creative services team and external vendor relationships (e.g. agencies, technology vendors, consultants) as assigned.
  • Provide inputs to marketing forecasts, including benefits and costs, in partnership with relevant Analytics and Finance teams.
  • Help develop and deliver email marketing training, both from a best practices and operational perspective.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of related experience.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in digital marketing
  • 5 years of digital marketing experience preferred
  • 4 years of email marketing experience preferred
  • Significant experience with email marketing and operations, with proven experience with major cloud platforms, Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred
  • Experience reporting out on campaign results and working with both analytical and creative teams
  • Proven experience working with marketing technology and data preferred
  • Basic HTML editing and AMPscripting are strong pluses
