Corporate Strategy & Research (CS&R) group is a ~40-person internal strategy consulting team within Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company with
45,000 employees in 900 offices worldwide.
Established in 1972, CS&R has an outstanding track-record of developing future leaders for Liberty Mutual such as business unit President, Chief Marketing
Officer, Senior Vice-President of Product Imagination, Transformation Office Strategy Director.
Job Summary & Responsibilities:
As a Managing Director, you will advise Liberty Mutuals senior executives in making strategic decisions. You will source, design, and lead projects end-to-end, typically in the areas of innovation, strategy development, forward-looking thought leadership, or business transformation. Through your project work, you will develop key thought-partner relationships with executives across the organization. You will also serve on the CS&R Leadership Team, and will be responsible for leading one of the six pillars that enable CS&Rs continued success. Finally, you will be instrumental in shaping CS&Rs mission to be a talent-feeder for Liberty Mutual, by coaching, mentoring, and championing the careers of your ~5 direct reports. In turn, the Senior Vice President will support your development and serve as a mentor.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding strategic issues faced by the client and the role of your team in addressing those issues
- Oversee the development of project proposals, work plans, primary and secondary research, and qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Managing and mentoring Associate Consultants, Senior Associate Consultants, and Senior Managers
- Crafting storylines that clearly articulate findings, insights, and recommendations Communicating with senior leadership to move the organization to action
- Building and owning relationships with key stakeholders

Directing team and stakeholders towards consensus points & gaining buy-in Utilizing adept mentoring, coaching, and influencing skills to inspire others and resolve challenging relationship management situations, collaborating on approaches with Senior Vice President contributing to other CS&R initiatives and leading a pillar, such as recruiting, talent development, thought leadership, or alumni engagement
Qualifications:
The group is looking for intellectually curious, creative, and driven individuals with proven experience or high potential for applying the management consulting toolkit in a leadership capacity.
Candidates should, at minimum, possess the following:

MBA with a demonstrated record of success or equivalent business and analytical background
- 10+ years of work experience preferred, including 4+ years of post-MBA experience
- Top-tier strategy consulting experience, with rapid career progression and client/team managerial experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking skills with ability to elevate thinking and apply judgment during analysis about how components fit together and with bigger picture
- Ability to leverage experience and analysis to gain support and influence others
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and written and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently and to guide and coach a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong, confident, and credible executive presence
- Insurance or financial services industry experience a plus

Salary/Bonus Target range - $168,000 - $227,000 with a Bonus Target of 25%
