Job Details
The team applies forensic data analysis techniques to identify potential instances of internal fraud or misconduct. This position is responsible for continuously improving the group's Red Flag and Suspicious Activity Reporting, developing new analytics to identify & quantify fraud, and performing ad hoc analyses to support investigations. This position is an individual contributor role with opportunities to influence and cross-train other team members. This job does not manage others
Works with team and business partners to identify, evaluate, acquire and utilize new internal and external data sources. Extracts and manipulates relevant data from various data sources. Generates Red Flag and Suspicious Activity Reports for analysts to review. Partners with other team members to refine report logic to reduce false positives. Completes validation tests to ensure data extractions, metrics and reports are complete and accurate. Utilizes Travelers and general coding best practices for programming and development of fraud analytics. Ensures skillset evolves with the industry by participating in trainings, networking and doing independent internet research. Perform other duties as assigned.
3-5 years of relevant experience with data tools & techniques preferred. Proficient in at least one development language and have demonstrated the ability to quickly learn others as needed; SAS and SQL is currently used for existing data extractions and reports. Python or R experience is desirable. Experience with CSV files, Excel or QlikView is desirable; Excel is currently being used with existing processes. Experience writing and running code to extract information from relational databases is preferred. General knowledge of how data may be stored, formatted, accessed and used to solve a business problem. Experience creating structured reports and visualizations is preferred. Desired interest in and ability to learn Python.
Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or Business related required. Minimum 3 years work experience in descriptive analytics, predictive modeling or a related field is required.
