GAINSCO Auto Insurance markets non-standard private passenger automobile products through retail agencies, in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Utah. GAINSCO Auto Insurance has fully integrated insurance capabilities, including marketing, underwriting, customer service and claims handling. Our operations are bilingual (English/Spanish).

Due to company growth, GAINSCO Auto Insurance has an immediate opening for a Business Analytics & Reporting Analyst in our Dallas, Texas office (located in Uptown).

Job Purpose: The Business Analytics & Reporting Analyst will utilize industry leading business intelligence and data visualization software to design and develop metrics, dashboards, reports and analyses to drive key business decisions in the Field Operations (Product and Sales) department. The focus will be optimizing information flow and developing complex data automation as well as performing analyses and delivering business insights to attain corporate objectives and drive profitable growth. To address the business priorities there will be extensive collaboration with key business leaders to understand the organizations needs and end-user requirements.

Essential Job Results:

  • Partner with business leaders on the design, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of data assets. Participate in requirement, feedback and prioritization sessions with various teams to ensure end-user requirements for reporting are satisfied.
  • Lead multi-functional analytical projects and manage the life cycle of new analytics from assessment, initiation, development, staging, production, and institutionalization.
  • Manage a robust library of flexible analytical tools and dashboards. Design and build new reports, retire low value reports and consolidate redundancies. When possible, standardize reports where discrepancies exist at regional or state level.
  • Automate recurring dashboards and reports as much as possible. Identify other reporting processes that are inefficient and create/change processes that will lead to measurable gains in data quality and processing time.
  • Create process for ad hoc report requests. Evaluation submissions and potential solutions in timely manner. When green-lighted, determine if repot should be institutionalized and automated.
  • Produce accurate, consistent and timely reporting by extracting information from several applications and systems and manipulating data as needed.

Education: Bachelors degree, with preference given to Business, Risk Management, Insurance or a related field of study.

Experience: Five or more years as an Analyst, preferably within Property & Casualty industry. Proven analytical skills used to perform lead role in analyses and make recommendations to business leaders. Experience working with relational databases, business intelligence and data visualization software essential.

Skills and Abilities:

Required: PowerBI or Tableau, Advanced Excel, Microsoft Office

Preferred: MapPoint, SAS, SQL

Superior analytical and quantitative aptitude; strong problem solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to lead meetings with business partners and effectively present summary of analytical work and ideas to Senior Management; excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with others in a team environment.
