Job Description
Allstate's Corporate/Claim Litigation team provides legal assistance in connection with large and complex claims cases and manages controversies arising from the implementation and execution of claims policies and procedures, both before and after litigation has commenced (including appeals). This practice group also assists with insurance coverage disputes by providing legal opinions and managing related litigation. The group provides training and advice to the claims organization. Provides legal counsel to and representation of selected business units and/or corporate departments on selected matters. Provides support to other attorneys in Law and Regulation.
- Intermediate to advanced communication skills are required to initiate oral and written response to inquiries regarding routine situations
- Ability to prioritize work and organize own time
- Ability to complete a professional document utilizing basic grammar, spelling, and format skills.
- Knowledge of work group functions and processes
- Scanning of documents and maintaining the order of documents, file folders beyond team boundaries
- Ability to prepare presentations with little assistance
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of required software applications
- Prepare and manage team reports
- Identify inconsistencies in routine work and initiate corrective action within workgroup
- Handle multiple demands on an on-going basis including familiar situations, sensitive information and some high-level contact
- Ability to train others across team boundaries
- Solve problems related to specific tasks with minimal supervision
- Work under general supervision
Key Responsibilities
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Ideal candidate would have some experience in a litigation or insurance defense setting
- Intermediate to advanced communication skills including the ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor with clients, customers and with fellow employees handle calls in a timely manner and ability to initiate oral and written responses to routine inquiries.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Internet, and other web-based applications.
- Experience with managing the scheduling process of meetings, booking travel, preparing/submitting expense reports and apply travel and other policies.
- Ability to complete professional, error free documents utilizing good grammar, spelling and format skills, including accurate preparation of legal pleadings, agreement letters, memoranda, reports outlines, schedules and client communications.
- Ability to prioritize work and organize own time
- Knowledge of work group functions and processes beyond team boundaries
