Job Summary
As a leader in our Digital Enablement and Enterprise Architecture organization, our Vice President of Enterprise Architecture and Emerging Technology responsible for the design, execution, and adoption of enterprise-wide architecture solutions enabling customer and employee-centric capabilities to drive Travelers' 'Perform & Transform' objectives. This role will drive the use of emerging and advanced technology, research, and experimentation while ensuring the technical and architectural capabilities and leadership to deliver on our product capabilities. This role will require a passion for leveraging next generation architecture/tools to solve business problems that create new growth for the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, superior business and communication skills, and the ability to simplify complex topics for our internal and external customers. This role will also be responsible for the identification of promising new technologies with the potential benefit to Travelers, communication of progress and value proposition of technologies under evaluation. The VP of EA/ET is a transformative, collaborative and inspirational leader of an enterprise architecture and emerging technology organization and will work conjointly with the Chief Information Officers, Innovation Office and Chief Architects within each line of business. This job is a Manager of managers: Senior level manager that is responsible for managing the objectives, performance, and compensation of lower levels of management. This job works under Broad Oversight: Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and establishes the methods to attain them. Generally the incumbent is in charge of an area of work and typically formulates policy for this area, but may have final authority for approving policy.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Sets the Enterprise Architecture strategy and delivers technology solutions, services, and components in alignment with enterprise Technology direction and business objectives. Responsible for enterprise systems, can lead technology / architecture related conversations with CIOs/ Technology and Business leadership. Creates and delivers value assurance through technology design, architecture consulting services while providing direction and guardrails for business led Technology objectives and brokering of external vendor relationships and implementations. Develops and ensure enterprise practices for overarching architecture principles, standards, frameworks, patterns and processes to ensure optimization of architectural designs for digital delivery. Responsible for solution architecture execution for enterprise capabilities to include not limited to our digital enablement, enterprise innovation and enterprise architecture objectives. Leads and enables an innovative agenda working in close collaboration with our Innovation office through expertise, resources and building environments that link innovation ideas and MVPS to target scalable enterprise solutions. Leads and directs all aspects of the organization, including financial/budgetary oversight, management of a portfolio of products, and service delivery. Oversees the execution, delivery, and maintenance of products and services. Responsible for fulfilling IT audits for the Engineering organization. Ensures the organization's compliance with IT standards, policies, and governance. Partners and consults with Sr. technology and business leaders to offer architecture solutions that meet enterprise business needs. Leads the coordination and resolution of complex and cross organizational topics. Builds sustainable, collaborative relationships across Enterprise technology teams, negotiates with vendors and handles escalations. Responsible for communicating status, strategic direction, and results. Able to provide executive level briefings on programs, strategic direction, status on issues and financials. Provides human resources management, including coaching, performance management, team development and growth, and workforce planning. Effectively engages as a member of the senior leadership team for the Digital Enablement and Enterprise Architecture organization. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of progressive work experience in the technology space and a minimum of 4 years of people management experience required.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
12 years of progressive work experience in the technology space preferred. BS/MS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent preferred.

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong experience and technical expertise in new age enterprise product architecture, service-oriented architectures and enterprise security architectures. Strong hands on knowledge and experience in technology solutioning for enterprise wide needs as well as understanding of cloud and on premised based architectures. Ability to assess and optimize emerging digital technologies into our environments. Ability to manage both at the strategic and operational levels. Experience and expertise with Agile & DevOps methodologies and tools. Able to evaluate market and industry trends within related technical domains. Possesses strong analytical skills to effectively create recommendations, influence decision-making, assess impacts, compare solutions, problem solve, and achieve business and/or technical objectives. Thoroughly understands how overall responsibilities fit within broader technical environment and has strong ability to influence technology recommendations for the enterprise. Experience leading large-scale technology organization and building and leading teams both directly and indirectly. Communication Skills Able to build strong relationships and foster a collaborative environment across Business and Shared Technology organizations. Expert written and oral communication at all levels, both internally and externally. Expert presentation skills used to influence other leaders across the Enterprise. Business knowledge and partnership: Able to demonstrate thorough understanding of business and financial acumen and proactively makes recommendations. Able to actively influence customers and business partners to solve problems and ensures products and services are utilized effectively and efficiently. Able to provide strategic solutions tailored to meet business objectives. Leads and seeks effective partnerships across the organization and can influence Senior Management, peers and subordinates through an inclusive style and recognition of their abilities and knowledge. Demonstrates the vision and thought leadership necessary to set broad technical direction and can communicate/articulate a clear vision of services. Demonstrates technical and process leadership skills within the organization, independently resolves conflicts, and develops relationships across the enterprise. Exhibits team leadership, provides guidance, feedback and coaching to direct reports. Influences all levels and contributes to the transformation agenda. Responsible for building and inspiring a large organization. Leads functional objectives and priorities across multiple technologies, platforms, and teams.
