Liberty Mutuals highly integrated tax organization provides a collegial framework to achieve results. Typically, professionals contribute across all the key components of tax including planning & research, audits, compliance and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provision process for the foreign operating companies including coordinating FIN 48 and Valuation Allowance
• Approve tax-related financial calculations, journal entries and disclosures including the tax footnote and MD&A
• Conduct complex research on technical tax and tax accounting issues, manage staff in research and review related memoranda
• Formulate and recommend financial statement and tax compliance positions with regard to international tax planning
• Identify and implement timely, cost-effective tax planning strategies designed to create value and enhance the Companys worldwide tax position
• Evaluation of various international transactions to understand and communicate tax consequences, reporting obligations, and risks.
• Assist with special projects such as M&A and restructuring transaction
• Manage preparation of routine to complex tax return and disclosures including foreign tax credit calculations, Subpart F, Form 5471 reporting, BEAT and GILTI
• Identify, develop and lead the implementation of process improvements. Develop policies that ensure adequate controls and documentation
• Keep abreast of current tax laws, regulations and practices. Identify changes that impact the business and communicate them to management
• Review responses to IRS information requests and proactively identify adjustments to be proposed
• Manage assigned staff to ensure adherence to deadlines and policies as well as to provide direct feedback on performance. Provide training and developmental opportunities to motivate staff
• Work effectively with other areas of Corporate Taxation and other Finance functions and demonstrate leadership in cross-functional initiatives

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Equivalent.
• Advanced degree (MST, MSA, MBA, CPA or JD) preferred.
• A minimum of at least 6 years of tax experience (financial reporting, compliance, audit, planning) or equivalent, preferably with a major public accounting firm or large multi-national company.
• Demonstrated expertise and depth in international transaction analysis, international tax technical and accounting areas.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to lead projects effectively
• Highly motivated individual with ability to multitask and complete deliverables within time constraints and deadlines.
• Insurance industry experience a plus, but not required
