Job Description

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated Insurance Carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as an Underwriting Field Service Representative. This position would be a resident position and would be responsible for a territory including the counties of Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Marion, Hancock, Henry, Wayne, Johnson, Shelby, Rush, Fayette, Union, Bartholomew, Decatur and Franklin. The position requires the following, but is not limited to:

  • Determines from observation, discuss with insureds and the review of accounting records the proper classifications, premium basis and scope of operations.
  • Make recommendations on proper premium classifications to achieve premium adequacy
  • Manage and schedule a weekly agenda of appointments to maximize the number of physical inspections performed in a given period of time.
  • Set up weekly agenda of scheduled appointments.

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or several years’ experience or training that the Company considers sufficiently related
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and marketing skills
  • Active listening and the ability to ask open-ended questions
  • Sound interpersonal, consultative and collaborative skills
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, organizational and time-management skills
  • Detail oriented and disciplined

  • Flexibility for necessary travel and occasional overnight stays Valid driver’s license with good driving history
