NSM Insurance Group is adding a new Database Administrator (DBA) to its Information Technology team. This person will be responsible for the security, performance, and integrity of all NSM databases. This is a new role so there is a lot of opportunity to build the role with best practices in mind, help introduce your experience and have a substantial impact as we continue to grow.

• Own access, compliance and security to all NSM databases, including different access levels depending on environment.
• Awareness of personally identifiable information (PII) and how to secure PII
• A mind towards automation. We want to focus on impactful work and that means automating repeatable process whenever we can. This includes deployments, permissions, tuning, etc.
• Review and improve backup, replication and restoration strategy
• Utilize cloud databases where necessary - NSM is a strong user of cloud computing today
• Propose and implement database monitoring solutions to display system health and proactively alert possible issues
• Participate in the change control process by reviewing and approving any scripts that modify data/schema
• Identify opportunities to perform database tuning to increase performance
• Work with the Strategy and Analytics teams to ensure proper data practices are being followed
• Knowledge of database upgrade processes and migration strategies
• Knowledge of ETL and RPA processes and technology are a plus

• Excellent skills with the following database technologies SQL Server 2008 R2-2016 / Azure SQL / Cosmos DB / Sybase SQL Anywhere and any future versions of these databases
• Tuning (performance, availability, capacity planning)
• Querying and related tools
• Backup/Restore
• Security
• Design (creation, modeling, proper use of schemas)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) requirements for data access, change control and auditing would be a big plus
• Self-starter and highly organized
• Excellent oral, written communication and creative skills (English)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Bachelors degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university
• 3+ years of job-related experience
