The Premium Auditor will cover a territory in the Northern NJ area. The Auditor performs an examination of policyholders' accounting and financial records for risks varying in size and complexity. Identifies, communicates and resolves issues found at audit with appropriate stakeholders. Submits accurate audited exposures (e.g., payroll, sales, fleet, etc.) within strict insurance guidelines through finalized audit work papers. May act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to resolve complex issues as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Review appropriate audit documentation and/or company policy systems to determine auditable exposures and coverage's provided by the policy and plan audit strategy.
  • Investigate policyholder operations to obtain actual exposures, verify classifications as they apply to the policy and ensure conformity to various state laws and insurance regulations for the appropriate audit period.
  • Prepare detailed work papers and written correspondence in support of audit findings.
  • Identify issues to be communicated and socialize the audit information to appropriate stakeholders (Central Processing, Distribution, Underwriting, Agent/Broker, etc.) to elaborate on current risk conditions or initiate necessary changes to the policy contract.
  • Exhibit effective workload management skills through efficient time utilization. This includes scheduling audit appointments taking into account priority and location of assignments within assigned territory; managing work-in-process and documenting progress to appropriate stakeholders/management.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks such as: Time Tracking, Expense Reports, Mileage Reports, etc.
  • Coordinate assignment of multi-location audits for large, complex risks. Review location audits to ensure quality and accuracy. Consolidate in proper format for rating purposes
  • May work on special projects and/or complex audits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience. Open to candidates with 3 or more years of experience as we have flexibility to hire at different levels.
  • Business background with knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office software applications (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail, data gathering and reporting skills, effective workload management skills in handling increasingly large, complex tasks, including tasks requiring subject matter expertise in all facets of the role.
  • Must maintain a valid drivers license for regular travel to customer locations.
