Principal Infrastructure Software Developer

About the job:

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Developer to join a team of System Engineers and Developers that support Network and Communications within our Hosting Services organization. Join us as we continue our transformation to DevOps, build self-service capabilities and infrastructure as code. In this role you will use your coding skills to develop applications that will automate manual processes, programmatically interact with network devices and lead our automation strategy. This involves analyzing current processes and making recommendations for automation. You will have an opportunity to work on squads of up to 9 people in an Agile environment.

Desired skills:

  • Experience with Full Stack Development, including back-end languages and frameworks (Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Python, Java), and front-end languages and frameworks (Javascript/HTML, jQuery, ReactJS, etc.)

  • Knowledge of code versioning tools (GIT)

  • Infrastructure configuration tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible).

  • Scripting and programming experience with Infrastructure using Python, Perl, Ruby, Powershell, etc.

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and methodologies, including automated builds, deployments and integration/unit testing

  • Strong Linux administration skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication and collaboration skills.

  • General knowledge of agile software development concepts and processes.

  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline preferably computer science or software development

  • Generally, 5+ years of professional development/DevOps experience

  • Experience designing, managing and supporting complex Internetworking systems

  • Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures and technical standards

  • Experience developing tools to assist with automated network configuration testing and analysis

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge of a business function(s) and of business operations. Extensive knowledge of design and development tools.

  • Negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.
