About the job:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Software Developer who is passionate about software development to join our agile team. The Business Services team owns a centralized suite of reusable services that are an integral part of critical business process at Liberty Mutual. The team is highly focused on delivering quality software through industry-wide best practices including test-driven development, continuous integration, continuous delivery and pair programming. In this role, you will be developing new business critical solutions and enhancing the teams suite of existing services. You will also be engaged in challenging, innovative projects that impact our business and customers. This role involves work in all stages of the development lifecycle, from reviewing business requests, to design, to construction and test, to deployment. The industry changes quickly, so we are looking for candidates who can respond to change, pick up new technologies quickly and adapt to changing requirements. We also want candidates who take pride in their work and have strong development expertise. We value quality code delivery and expect candidates to demonstrate competence at writing, testing and debugging Java code.

Desired skills:

• Experience with the Spring framework and its related projects (Spring webservices, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, Spring Security, and others)

• Experience building solutions leveraging AWS (S3, Athena, etc)

• Experience building modern applications that run in Pivotal Cloud Foundry

• Knowledge in web service development, design and specifications writing with SOAP and REST

• Knowledge of the Java Persistence API (JPA) and related implementations

• Familiarity with Test Driven Development and Continuous Integrations and Continuous Deployment concepts

• Knowledgeable in new and emerging technologies, including microservice concepts

• A passion for learning new things about Software Development approaches and technologies

• Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills

Highly competitive candidates will also have:

• Full Stack Development experience

• Angular/React and Web Services creation experience

• Java / J2EE development experience

• Experience with Unit Testing frameworks (e.g., Junit, Mockito).

• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Build Pipeline

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline, preferably computer science or software development

• Generally 5+ years of professional development experience

• Extensive knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, methodologies, architectures and technical standards

• Strong analytical, problem solving skills

• Extensive knowledge of design and development tools

• Proficient in multiple programming languages and tools

• Negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills

• Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills
