Enterprise Legal Information Management is a team in the Corporate IT organization responsible for the delivery of business intelligence, predictive analytics, and advanced reporting capabilities to the Legal and Corporate organizations. We embrace and seek the latest technologies and project/team processes (agile, design thinking, etc) and believe in an atmosphere of autonomous, self-forming project teams and encourage team members to experiment and explore outside their comfort zone.

The team is actively seeking a Principal Software Developer with significant experience in Python, the ability to learn R, R-Shiny, React, and an understanding of machine learning concepts. In this position, you will work closely with architects, business partners and other developers in a dynamic, agile environment. You will build highly effective business intelligence solutions for our Legal AI product; guide and mentor junior team members.

LEADS AND CONSULTS ON THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:

  • Work closely with Data Scientists and Legal Billing Auditors on data projects of varying degrees of scale.

  • Develop system/application architecture.

  • Develop maintainable/scalable, effective, defect-free source code that meets business needs and team standards.

  • Lead quality assurance architecture and design guide review; identify defects or discrepancies in stories and work with appropriate partners and developers to resolve them.

  • Collaborate and tackle production and data integration issues, perform root cause analysis, implement solutions, and revise procedures and documentation as needed.

  • Identify, review, and implement improvement opportunities (performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation).

  • Explore and develop techniques to utilize big data for Legal Data Scientists and Auditor teams.

  • Develop data aggregation and automation solutions in support of Legal modeling and research projects.

  • Provide appropriate communication to partners related to the teams work product.

  • Follow Agile standard methodologies and standards.

HIGH-REACHING APPLICANTS WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Strong enterprise-level software development experience in an object-oriented language, preferably Python and Java.

  • Proven programming discipline: unit testing (junit, Python unittest), fault tolerance, data structures (experience with pandas a definite plus), complexity analysis, object oriented principles, design patterns, etc.

  • Pivotal Cloud Foundry

  • SQL Server and Teradata

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools such as BitBucket/Git, Gradle, and/or Jenkins

  • Experience with Cloud Technologies such as Azure, AWS, and Docker

  • Springboot

  • Experience working in an agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc)

  • An evident appreciation of current and emerging technology trends

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred

  • Generally 8+ years of professional experience

  • Versed in diverse technologies and new technical architecture principles and concepts

  • Deep understanding in layered systems architectures solutions and designs and shared software concepts. Business function(s) and I/T industry business issues; extensive knowledge of business operations, strategies and objectives

  • Extensive understanding of agile software development concepts and processes

  • You should be dedicated, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker

  • Extensive consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply customer requirements, including drawing out unforeseen implications and making recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, understanding potential impacts of design requirements

  • Extensive understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery

  • Tight-knit collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
