Are you an experienced product manager in the Life Sciences liability area ready to make an immediate impact? IronHealth is seeking a product leader to handle product liability, errors and omissions, and general liability coverage over a wide spectrum of life sciences specialty areas. Areas such as, pharmaceuticals, medical device, biotechnology, clinical trials, CROs/SMOs, OTC and nutraceutical risks. We foster underwriter judgment and emphasize local decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for a hardworking underwriter with life sciences and management expertise, confidence and deal orientation. Our ideal person has advanced knowledge in this arena with strong industry contacts and the ability to direct a team of experienced underwriters for us.

If you're experienced in dealing with this highly technical line of business and its specialized brokers, claims and risk management, you will have full responsibility for the P&L of the IronHealth Life Sciences product line. This is a VP or SVP level position, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Looking for you to grow the life sciences book, while handling the Profit and Loss of the line.
  • You will both lead and develop a team of highly skilled life sciences underwriters.
  • We need you to recruit, train and mentor new staff as necessary.
  • Leads the business strategy and plan for the line
  • You will directly builds new or modified offerings to the industry.
  • Underwrites new and renewal business for complex accounts.
  • Establishes and maintains highly effective business relationships with agents and brokers in order to attract, develop/grow and retain profitable business.
  • You'll evaluate a prospect's/renewal's exposure, financial standing, operational and strategy.
  • Communicates and collaborates across the organization - such as Claims, Product Management, Actuarial, Distribution, and Production - to provide solutions/recommendations and achieve organizational success.

*Position open to US. Ideal Locations Chicago, New York, and PA

Qualifications:

  • The individual hired for this position should have a solid market reputation with the ability to effectively interact with brokers and internal departments at all levels in the organization.
  • At least 5 years of managerial experience over senior underwriting staff in the life sciences area.
  • We need a highly knowledgeable and focused underwriter with experience handling life sciences risks across multiple risk classes, and with a track record of growing a book of business that performs well over the long term.
  • Excellent knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, contracts and underwriting guidelines required.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent training with 15+ years of relevant and dynamically more responsible production underwriting experience within the specialty focus of Life Sciences are necessary. Specific experience in products/completed operations, errors and omissions and general liability coverages required.
  • Experience in premises/ongoing operations, workers compensation, auto, cyber and/or property coverage for life sciences entities distinguishes you
  • Requires an advanced knowledge of Life Sciences underwriting concepts, practices, procedures and techniques, including, but not limited to coverage issues, product lines, marketing, and competition within the marketplace.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills to build immediate credibility, both internally and externally; an ability to present effectively to a broad range of audiences; attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to negotiate authoritatively in tough situations.
  • Strong work ethic, reliable, consistent and being an outstanding teammate required.
