Personal Insurance Business Technology is looking for a Quality Engineer to implement QA automation solutions across the Technology Value Stream related to technical and infrastructure upgrades.  The Quality Engineer will help drive the Continuous Integration/ Delivery/ Deployment and should be well versed with the Agile methodology.
 
This position requires location in Hartford. Reports to QA Information System Team Manager. 

Technology Value Stream is looking for a Quality Engineer with a technical background to work across multiple disciplines to bring in skills and expertise outside of the core QA skills.  Day to Day responsibilities include:

• Implement QA automation solutions across the systems team for the Technology Value Stream.
• Advocates the use of technology to develop and/or redesign the QA processes.
• Help drive and implement a shift left mentality in terms of code delivery and testing.
• Manage the quality practices and documentation for the Technology Value Stream by setting out the appropriate tests and acceptable result parameters to ensure that quality testing is effective.
• Ability to troubleshoot by understand issues and developing successful fixes, changing practices where necessary to ensure that standards are maintained.
• Ability to automate and maintain test cases in tools like Selenium, UFT.
• Java knowledge is a plus.
• Attend and actively participate in agile practices such as stand up meetings and walkthroughs with business customers, system and application owners.
• Ability to provide comprehensive estimates and resource plans around execution effort and articulate risks/challenges.
• Collaborate and coordinate with onshore and offshore vendor partner resources to drive successful execution of test deliverables.
• Resolves discrepancies with technical partners and retests as required.
• Communicate test status and results to agile teams including issues and potential risks to delivery.
• Manage all risks associated with the testing, taking preventable action when risks become unacceptable.
• Provides quarterly weekend production checkout for project implementations (typically on a Saturday or Sunday)
• Ability to train and mentor others.

• Bachelors Degree in Technology or a related field preferred.
• 3 years of Technology, Business Testing, or Quality Assurance experience preferred.

- Technical Proficiency:  

• Demonstrates working/solid knowledge of PL systems.
• Strong personal computing skills with emphasis on Excel, Word, Visio and other Microsoft software. 
• Ability to analyze complex business and/or system requirements within system. 
• Understanding/working experience with XML, SOAP, Rally, ALM, etc. is a plus.
• Ability to analyze complex business and/or system requirements within system. 
• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC). 
• Where appropriate maintains a thorough knowledge of business trends. 
• Ability to execute testing and analysis functions at a very high degree of accuracy and speed.

• Working/solid knowledge of Personal Lines Auto and Property products, compliance, and processes a plus.

One year of Technology or Business Testing experience required. High school diploma or equivalent required. .
