Job Summary
Under supervision of Fitness Center Supervisor, assist in daily operation of corporate fitness and wellness programs and facility operation. Conduct fitness evaluation testing, prescribe exercise programs, maintain member files, assist in developing motivational programs, and instruct group exercise classes. Provide high level of member interaction and service to improve membership participation and satisfaction.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in daily operation of fitness facility. Interact with fitness center participants to ensure exercise programs are conducted in a safe manner. Provide superior member/ participant services. Conduct fitness evaluation testing. Enroll new fitness center members by evaluating cardio-respiratory and muscle condition through non-invasive measurements. Determine member's fitness interest/goals. Advise members of testing results. Instruct participants on proper exercise techniques. Develop individualized exercise programs for members as needed or requested based on fitness evaluation and goals. Instruct members on proper equipment use and safe exercise techniques. Assist Fitness Center Supervisor and Assistant Fitness Center Supervisor/ Wellness Coordinator in developing health education, disease prevention, and wellness initiatives. Carry out projects as assigned. Instruct group exercise classes. Suggest and develop group exercise class formats, teach participants in class methods and procedures. Maintain fitness center equipment and provide housekeeping and laundry services on an as needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications
College Degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology, physical education, health education or related major; or a high school diploma with three years relevant work experience.
Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required. Ability to work well independently and in teams and manage multiple responsibilities needed. Microsoft Windows knowledge helpful.
Licensing or Certificates
American College of Exercise (ACE) certification preferred. Competency in prescribing and completing exercise testing required.
