Job Details

The Global Internal Audit (GIA) Quality Assurance (QA) and Process Specialist provides internal audit process support and influences innovation and change that enhance Corporate Internal Audit's policies, procedures and service delivery.  The QA Specialist leads in the implementation and maintenance of standards and quality tools, resources, and measurements to improve Internal Audit outcomes and methodologies. Serves as squad leader for continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives. Proactively identifies opportunities for quality or standards improvement and assists in the prioritization and deployment.    

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and enhances GIA's Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP), ensuring practices are in line with Institute of Internal Auditor's (IIA) International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). Maintains the GIA Audit Manual.
  • Provides proactive support and research on matters relating to the internal audit profession and professional practices. Provides guidance to the audit teams to reinforce methodology standards through timely feedback.
  • Owns department continuous improvement initiatives including serving as Continuous Improvement Squad leader, taking ownership of issues raised and drive solutioning.
  • Maintains monthly internal metrics and internal reporting. Provides monthly reporting of Global Internal Audit activity to external audit team.
  • Joins huddles and other meetings regularly to obtain VOC around existing gaps or on solutions recently introduced or refined. Proactively identifies opportunities for quality or standards improvement and assists in the prioritization.
  • Work closely with GIA staff in eliminating redundant work processes and procedures, streamlining customer-facing and internal standard work to increase overall efficiency and effectiveness of the group.
  • Maintains the department intranet page and the content of communications including: Internal communications; Additions/updates to internal audit related professional frameworks; Department resources; Industry news; Continuing professional education & training opportunities.

 

Qualifications:

 
  • Intermediate knowledge of internal audit practices, operational process documentation and a strong knowledge of the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Professional Practices Framework.
  • 4-6 years of audit or relevant business experience, including a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Progress toward one or more professional designations (i.e., CIA, CISA, CPCU, CPA) and insurance industry knowledge are preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and influence others, strong written and verbal communication skills as well as project management skills required.
  • Must have effective analytical, problem solving, and research skills.
  • Experience in participating in process change is a plus.
