GAINSCO Auto Insurance markets non-standard private passenger automobile products through retail agencies, in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia. GAINSCO Auto Insurance has fully integrated insurance capabilities, including marketing, underwriting, customer service and claims handling. Our operations are bilingual (English/Spanish).

Job Purpose: To supervise the daily activities of the Claims Appraisers within the assigned region in order to ensure quality service, high productivity and compliance with industry guidelines and regulations.

Accomplishes Staff (Appraiser) Job Results by coaching, counseling, training, hiring and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and guiding appraiser results. Job Functions include completing QA reviews, field reviews, Re-inspections, Rental Management, Load Leveling, Total Loss Reviews, and participation in CAT duty.

Maintains Quality Service by assuring prompt and accurate handling of appraisal assignments; addressing escalated complaints to include insurance department responses; ensures all files are consistent and are properly documented in adherence to Company and State policies and procedures.

Maintains Claims Support Operations By providing support to the Claims staff and completing field activities and desk reviews as needed to assist in the resolution of claims and promotion of strong customer service.

Education: Bachelors degree required.

Experience: Previous experience as an appraiser is required; prior supervisory experience is preferred. Insurance background required; non-standard auto insurance experience is a plus

Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to lead, motivate and direct employees; ability to train, coach and teach others; ability to monitor and assess performance; ability to efficiently manage own time and the time of others; ability to exercise objective judgment and critical decision making; ability to use logic and reasoning to identify approaches and solutions to problems.

Other: Valid Appraiser or Adjuster License in the State of Texas; CE credits; Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; some weekend work is required.

Office Equipment and Software: Computer, laptop, phone, cell phone, printer, scanner, calculator and fax. General computer skills: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe, Internet; knowledge of Image Right and Claims Manager.

Decision Making: Set priorities and standards of performance based on Best Claims Practices; when to assess liability

Interpersonal Communication: Daily interaction with Claim Adjusters, Appraisal Unit Staff, attorneys, claimants, physicians, upper management and key personnel in various departments.

Confidential and Sensitive Information: Personal information pertaining to insureds and claimants: dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, drivers license and social security numbers, vehicle information. Personal information pertaining to employees: personnel file, salary data, performance corrections, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, and social security numbers.
