****This position is open to any location.  This posting is a range posting for a grade 16 Senior Actuarial Analyst and a grade 18 Assistant Actuary for the right skillset.****

    Advance your actuarial career at Liberty Mutual Insurance - A Fortune 100 Company! The State Analytics team within Global Retail Markets (GRM) Product Economics is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst/Assistant Actuary to assess overall book profitability at the state level across PL Auto/Dwelling lines of business. The key responsibility of this role will be to develop internal indications and rate guidance recommendations at the state level. This includes researching methodology improvements and implementing changes that improve predictive accuracy and/or volatility and developing process improvements to increase efficiency.  This role will be part of a team of 4 analysts and report to the PL State Profit Insights Manager.   Responsibilities:
  • Develop state internal indications, which bring together the impacts of profitability results, trends, rate strategy and other product actions into a holistic perspective on line of business health.
  • Examine Auto/Dwelling lines of business to calculate current and projected rate need over a multi-year time horizon. Responsibilities would include projecting trends, evaluating reserve opinions, and assessing the impacts of new rating programs and product initiatives.
  • Challenge existing methodologies and develop new approaches to test and enhance the accuracy of our projections.
  • Design improved tools and processes to facilitate increased efficiency.
  • Communicate results and build tools to help key stakeholders better understand the profitability of their lines.
  • Mentor and assist more junior team members

 

Qualifications:
  • Associateship / Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS) designation preferred, or comparable actuarial education/designation combined with relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years progressively responsible experience
  • Solid understanding of all casualty actuarial techniques, standards, and assumptions.
  • Demonstrated ability communicate technical concepts to broad audiences.
  • Ability to establish and build effective relationships within and outside the organization.
