Department Description:

Corporate Relations (CR) plays a vital role in Allstates success. We advance the business priorities of the corporation through effective strategic communications and promote alignment and engagement with Allstates reputation-building strategies across the enterprise. We provide our leaders, our employees and our agency owners and their staffs with tools that help drive exceptional value for customers. We drive business results through:

  • Improved external reputation with investors, policymakers, media, customers, consumers, engaged consumers and opinion-leaders

Candidates should have a deep interest and general understanding of communications and public relations with demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to assume responsibility, prioritize their work, and think creatively. Additional skills and experience include the following:

  • Ability to assist in the execution and planning of communication strategies
  • Ability to develop a basic tactical plan with focus on timeline and audience needs
  • Prior agency or corporate public relations internship experience is ideal
  • Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is strongly preferred

Project Management/Administrative: Actively participate in project meetings from inception to delivery to understand deliverables, audience, timing, expected outcomes and goals. Ability to organize project into discrete tasks, estimating and managing time required to complete tasks.

Writing: Assist in creating internal and external communications that are aligned with corporate priorities and messaging. Assist in developing creative messaging to effectively communicate with enterprise. Creative and persuasive writing skills to prepare print material in approved format to meet communication objectives for audience.

Building Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with CR team members and colleagues in other departments.

Strategy & Planning: Assist in the execution and planning of communication strategies. Develop a basic tactical plan with focus on timeline and audience needs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Ambassador Network

  • Support team as we conduct the Ambassador 10th Anniversary activities
    • Support annual Ambassador Summit logistics, communications and application process
    • Become the SME for Microsoft Teams
    • Manage one initiative for the Super Star Summit (exact initiative tbd)
  • Manage Ambassador mailbox & AllConnect Intranet site
    • Reply and/or comment to Ambassador related: emails, posts and questions
  • Compile metrics from Constant Contact and AllConnect
  • Document the new Ambassador onboarding experience
  • Refresh and maintain the Ambassador roster and the Ambassador Office Leader roster

Community Engagement

  • Support the development and communication of new resources for 114 Helping Hands Committees across the country
  • Develop communications, job aids and supporting resources for volunteer programs
  • Support local volunteer activities and logistics
  • Manage volunteer mailbox & Helping Hands AllConnect Intranet site
    • Develop content to encourage volunteerism
    • Reply and/or comment to Helping Hands related: emails, posts and questions

General Culture

  • Support the Be a Force for Good AllConnect Intranet site and assist with monthly metrics
    • Create dynamic content to engage Allstate employees in what it means to Be a Force for Good for our customers, communities and each other
    • Reply and/or comment to posts and questions
  • Support HR Communication activities that drive employee engagement tactics

Job Qualifications

Candidates should have a deep interest and general understanding of communications and public relations, demonstrate excellent oral and excellent written communication skills, the ability to assume responsibility, prioritize their work, and think creatively. In addition the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience using social media tools in a school or corporate environment, specifically creating a social media campaigns.
  • Ability to work well with business professionals of varying backgrounds, talents and management techniques.
  • Capacity to process detailed information quickly and synthesize into communication tactics that resonate with and engage stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of public relations trends and best practices preferred.
  • Previous academic, extracurricular and/or work experience related to public relations is a preferred

Education:

We prefer candidates who are upper-level undergraduate students majoring in Journalism, English, Strategic Communications or Communications with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or first year graduate students.
