Job Summary
Works under General Direction. Manages others. Provides strategic thought leadership at a business unit level. Sets the direction and manages a larger team of marketing professionals identify marketing program strategies and to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns aligned with specific business unit needs. Partners with senior business and marketing leaders to develop, create and execute cross BU & Enterprise marketing strategies. Works across business units and with enterprise partners Oversees and develops content based on key marketing strategy messaging. General Direction: Establishes procedures for attaining specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Generally final results are reviewed. (Typically applies to a manager or expert/top level professional.)

Direct Mail Lead:
This position is responsible for the successful planning and execution of the countrywide Direct Mail and Email programs as they pertain to the acquisition of new business, as well as lead management for the Direct to Consumer business. The candidate will be required to manage a direct team, as well as a matrixed team of resources that span marketing, analytics, sales, operations, product and other areas. Success of this role is determined based upon the ability to achieve production goals, drive program innovation and improve operating efficiencies.


Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Campaign Execution/ Mgmt.: Lead a team of marketing professionals, partnering with senior level marketing partner(s), assigned business unit(s) and enterprise partners to create and execute most complex integrated marketing campaigns in support of the marketing strategies aligned to specific business needs. Responsible for overseeing the management of content development; shepherds material through the review/approval process. Oversees team of professionals accountable for the execution of most complex traditional marketing tactics such as email and direct mail. Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of most complex campaigns and adjusts tactics as appropriate. Tracks results and conducts post-campaign ROI analysis and reporting. Recommends adjustments to tactics. Able to demonstrate how each marketing campaign ties back to marketing and business strategies for each campaign. Reviews and analyzes research on business and consumer insights on most complex marketing campaigns and develops recommendations on the directions of the marketing campaigns and content development. Oversee ongoing maintenance/refresh of campaign content and tactics on most complex campaigns. Supports agency and industry events by the oversight of marketing components execution and the teams contribution to key message development. May provide project management leadership. Responsible for establishing and enforcing processes, approvals and best practices. Collaboration: Works closely with marketing and business partners to understand business priorities and objectives. Consults on most complex marketing related requests, tasks and activities and makes recommendations based on the business objectives. Collaborates with Enterprise partners on brainstorming most complicated owned, earned and paid tactics associated with all initiatives. Consults with the field staff regarding the effective use of the campaign material/tactics to enable the sales process. Project Management: Acts as Project Manager and takes the lead on the most complex projects and campaigns. Accountable for follow up and follow through of all facets of integrated marketing campaign tactics. Plans for and helps execute the effective development and implementation of longer term marketing projects which have a significant impact on total organization. Leadership: Stays attuned to relevant market conditions and trends in order to drive effective messaging and tactics to targeted audiences. Partners with Enterprise to bring innovative thought leadership to the business by staying abreast of new marketing concepts, tools and technology and integrating them into the campaign development .

Direct Mail Lead role responsibilities:
  • Create and manage annual marketing plans as they pertain to budget, strategy, execution, testing and results reporting.
  • Establish and achieve new policy quote and sale targets, as well as troubleshoot/resolve aspects of the business that might be falling short.
  • Develop and drive the annual program innovation plan to include cadence testing, creative ideation, marketable universe expansion, quote incentives and other aspects that improve program efficiency.
  • Partner with Sales organization to ensure alignment of sales and marketing, as well as to facilitate new program implementations.
  • Monitor and make recommendations as needed regarding predictive analytics & modeling (i.e. ensuring proper mix of target audience based on quote rate, conversion and life-time value).
  • Identify, onboard and manage multiple vendor relationships as defined to support direct mail and email efforts. This covers analytical modeling and well as creative agencies.
  • Closely partner with other media managers to ensure tight implementation of DTC strategy.
  • Where necessary, partner with IT to build necessary infrastructure to support new/enhanced marketing efforts.
  • Stay up to date on latest print technology capabilities and postage optimization techniques.
  • Attend leadership conferences and industry exhibitions to seek new opportunities for innovation process improvements and drive efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing or other related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in marketing related field. Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting the management of integrated campaigns. Minimum of 4 years of direct management of employees. Thorough knowledge of multifunctional areas such as: digital execution, promotion, advertising, research, competitive analysis, communications, brand management, website management. Thorough knowledge of all facets of owned, earned and paid tactics.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Typically 8-10 years of experience in marketing generalist role. Demonstrated Leadership capabilities. Thorough knowledge of content writing and tools Thorough knowledge of the Property Casualty insurance or related field. Experience in the Financial Services/Insurance Industry or 3rd Party Distribution model preferred. Thorough knowledge of the business financial drivers, structure and operations. Thorough Knowledge: Possesses advanced knowledge of subject matter in order to solve unusual as well as common work problems.

Understanding of targeting models and segmentation strategies / concepts. Strong understanding of database analytics, financial and statistical analysis. Detail oriented. Project management experience a plus. Strong Presentation skills (creation and delivery) a plus.
