JOB SUMMARY:

The Manger will work both collaboratively and independently while self-directing their work processes to meet corporate objectives and goals related to the accurate and timely completion of assigned premium audits, while overseeing the day-to-day operations of premium audit activities.  The manager will make assignments while monitoring and managing individual and team workload. This role is responsible for meeting established Customer Service Standards for accurate and timely ordering of physical audits and timely processing of large casualty and primary audits.

Responsible for assigned large casualty and primary account policy audit lifecycle to include:

  • Direct supervision of staff employees assigned to large casualty & primary audits.  
  • Monitor time and attendance; Approving vacations and overtime;
  • Review employee efficiency, including phone and internet usage and training needs.
  • Handle personnel issues that arise and maintain documentation in the Human Resource file as well as Halogen; assist in the hiring process of personnel; and participate in staff performance appraisals.
  • Facilitate meetings / conversations / conference calls with broker, insured contact, vendor, A/R, etc. to clarify process and cost concerns/questions between parties.
  • Ensures current processes are being followed; (e.g. vendor selection, priority processing, etc.)
  • Assigns Primary WC, Large Deductible WC, Commercial Auto and General Liability audits to Premium Audit staff for review, processing, billing and mailing.  Identifies and resolves any workflow bottlenecks that may occur.  Reassign work as needed.
  • Gives direction to applicable staff on issues pertaining to premium audit workflow, workarounds, priorities, etc.
  • Ensures accurate classification and manual rules are applied.
  • Perform Premium Audit Reviews [PAR], Internal Audits [IA], and random sampling review on Primary WC, Large Deductible WC, Commercial Auto and General Liability audits. 
  • Work with Premium Audit staff on the timely billing of Large Casualty and Primary audits due for Statistical Reporting and/or timeliness guidelines.  Inform Safety National’s Data Quality Statistical Reporting Group of any issues relating to the delay of reporting.   
  • Assists aforementioned personnel in their job development and fulfillment of their duties.
  • Identifies any areas where additional training is needed.
  • Instruct team members to follow appropriate premium audit process to ensure accuracy of any AP/RP premium billed through business application systems as a result of the physical audits.
  • Serves as the Chief Vendor Liaison to coordinate, regulate, and communicate all issues or concerns to the appropriate party.
  • Provides order, status, & processing support to the premium audit unit.
  • Acts as backup for Premium Audit Director.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform User Testing on any defects or enhancements on premium audit processes.  Ensure update of Premium Audit Procedures and train Premium Audit staff on any changes to existing or new processes. 
  • Contribute to overall organizational results through special assignments; e.g. participate in quality-peer review teams, prepare/conduct training sessions on special topics, etc.
  • Designated as the liaison for business process development. Responsible for requirements gathering, feedback solicitation, facilitate by written and verbal means to clarify, expand upon, and reject development ideas, and functionality testing.
  • Manage relationships with underwriting, brokers, and insureds as well as the Premium Audit unit.
  • Act as formal mentor for premium auditors and develop unit’s organizational skills.
  • Recommend changes and identify opportunities for improvement in the department workflows and procedures.
  • Abide by Safety National’s policies regarding the nondisclosure of corporate business information, the protection of confidential and copyrighted information, and all precautions regarding data security.
  • Approve check requests to pay physical audit invoices from Audit Vendor Companies.  Work with Accounts Payable to assure all payments and outstanding balances are paid / resolved.
  • Prepare reports for monthly Large Casualty / Primary Workers Compensation premium audit meetings and completes analysis of metrics. Acts as back up to others as necessary.
  • Reviews monthly KPIs and directs associated workflow.
  • Special duties or projects as required or assigned by Premium Audit Director or other members of Account Services management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years of premium audit or insurance experience – Workers Compensation, General Liability and Commercial Auto.
  • Previous supervisory, leadership, training, or workflow management experience is desired. 
  • Must be a very detailed person with the ability to analyze large quantities of data and trouble shoot errors in calculations, and detailed algorithmic equations. Through review and analysis, identify and resolve outlier and stagnant orders/audits.
  • Requires someone who is very organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to take and give direction diplomatically and constructively.
  • Proficient in internal applications as needed, including Microsoft Office, IMS, etc. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Must have tact and diplomacy in developing / maintaining cooperative relationships with vendors, internal, and external customers through proactive and effective communication.
  • Must be customer-focused and demonstrate commitment to high levels of customer service.
  • Participates in and promotes a team environment with the Unit, Department, and Company.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, set priorities, meet deadlines, and multi-task.
  • Must be highly motivated, self-directed, results oriented and open to change.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently.
