How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
The Life Lead Model Developer is responsible for implementing and monitoring the Prophet model changes pertaining to the Life products, using best in class modeling standards. Department: Actuarial Modeling Key Relationships:- Reports To: Life Model Steward
- Direct Reports/Team: 1 to 2 model developers
- Other Key Stakeholders: Pricing, Valuations, Projections and Asset Liability Management (ALM) teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce best in class modeling standards
- Maintain change management and version control
- Develop and maintain the issues log to track issues for remediation
- Implement and test new software releases, library updates, new products, new regulatory requirements, and shared table changes
- Provide modeling guidance and best practices to modeling team
- Manage merger of model revisions into the corporate model
- Coordinate staging of model inputs
- Maintain relationships with software vendors and internal life modeling clients
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
-
Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required; FSA designation advantageous
5+ years of actuarial experience in an insurance company, consulting, or software company setting
5+ years experience in actuarial modeling design and development
2+ years of Prophet Professional model development strongly preferred; familiarity with the US 360 and/or ALS libraries advantageous
Significant product knowledge to understand modeling requirements for Life or Annuity products
Strong project management skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Conceptual and analytical skills to develop solutions to complex problems
Sound business judgment skills (decision-making and problem solving)
