Excellent opportunity at our growing company for an experienced individual to play a key role focusing on Investment Analytics, responsible for providing timely, accurate, and data driven analysis to support all of Assurants investment platforms.

Assurants investment portfolio (approximately $14 billion) is managed by its in-house asset management division, Assurant Asset Management (AAM). The portfolio consists of investments across the risk spectrum with the majority of the assets allocated to fixed income. In addition, Assurant Investment Management (AIM), an SEC registered investment advisor (RIA), was formed to leverage internal credit and real estate expertise to establish a targeted third-party asset management business. This includes both a collateralized loan obligation (CLO) platform and a real estate fund.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with portfolio managers and other investment professionals to design, develop, test, implement, and revise solutions to support portfolio management decision making in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calculate portfolio performance, characteristics, attribution, and risk measures for the Assurant portfolios using third-party and proprietary systems.
  • Integrate proprietary and third-party data for ad-hoc reporting and other tools to support portfolio management decision making.
  • Support and prepare presentation materials.
  • Improve workflow, build new applications, and improve efficiencies to mitigate risk and reduce errors.
  • Work with internal technology teams to test and deploy solutions.
  • Improve data verification from various sources to improve downstream reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of processes that adhere to regulatory and industry best practices.
  • Produce documentation for analytics and associated processes.
  • Provide backup and overflow support for the middle office operations team as well as provide general portfolio management support.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Basic qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree required, MBA/CFA a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (5+ preferred) in a primarily fixed income analytics role in an institutional asset manager, registered investment advisor, or a comparable investment platform.
  • Limited travel required

As a covered person of a registered investment advisor, the position will require adherence to policies including, but not limited to, a code of ethics and personal trading policy.


Other requirements and preferred qualifications:

  • Degree focused in accounting, finance, economics, business, or information systems preferred.
  • Strong background in fixed income portfolio analytics and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in calculating investment performance and understanding of attribution methodologies.
  • Experience working with a full range of asset classes including fixed income, structured products including CLOs, and derivatives.
  • Experience designing, developing, maintaining, and improving analytical tools and processes.
  • Experience working closely with investment professionals at all levels.
  • Experience with industry tools such as Bloomberg, Markit, Yieldbook, order management systems and/or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply those to systems (such as SQL, Visual Basic/VBA, strong Excel).
  • Business Intelligence tool experience preferred (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to deliver high-quality and executive-ready work product in a timely manner.
  • Ability to diagnose issues, mitigate risk and make recommendations toward process improvements.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and faced paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team but also understand instructions quickly and work independently.
  • Organizational skills and flexibility in handling multiple demands and changing priorities.
  • Ability to problem solve, provide new ideas and suggestions.
  • Excellent follow-up and follow-through skills.
  • Self-motivated.
