Job Description
The Data and Reporting Senior Consultant I will be responsible for providing reporting on the overall health and profit/growth of the Auto, Home and Coho products. The individual will have numerous opportunities to interact with other departments both in and out of Product as well as leaders on product strategy; leveraging their understanding of the product, underwriting, and financial elements in communicating analysis as well as making recommendations on trends, profit/loss, policy growth, and other insurance financial indicators. Evaluates procedures and processes to determine appropriateness and recommend changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Applies knowledge and experience with data sources and applications to conduct research supporting the health of the product
- Owns multiple reports (from creation through maintenance/updates) in support of projects/products
- Analytical support includes inspecting and cleaning data to provide useful information and to suggest conclusions to Product Management for decision making.
- Researches demographic, economic and financial elements (e.g. quotes, close rates, items, premium, etc.) to identify markets/ segments for opportunities to impact growth and profit
- Works with Data and Reporting Manager as well as Product Managers to determine appropriate analyses to be conducted for projects to make recommendations to achieve corporate goals
- Identifies and resolves moderately complex data issues independently
- Seeks opportunities for continuous learning and development within Product Management
- Applies basic working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures to support successful delivery of work product
- Leverages awareness of current data/reporting industry standards and develops possible improvements to existing reports
- Serves as a subject matter expert on discipline from an internal perspective
- Trains/coaches team members or peers; actively share expertise
Job Qualifications
- Strong technology fluency in tools and software/programming languages with key analytic applications (SAS, MySQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, UNIX, OLAP, Tableau)
- Education: Bachelors Degree in IT, Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial Science or related field
- Experience: 3-5 years of P&C insurance related experience preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong experience in time and task management
- Strong attention to details
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Solid financial acumen
